Bluetooth headset is a common accessory of modern and dynamic people. When using the Bluetooth headset with your phone, you will be able to listen / call without touching and holding on the phone, making it convenient to talk, shop and even run. As long as your phone has Bluetooth, connecting it to a Bluetooth headset is very easy.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Prepare a Bluetooth headset

  1. Fully charge the headset. Fully charging the devices will ensure uninterrupted usage due to low battery.

  2. Set the headset to pairing mode or "pairing mode". The process is slightly different depending on the model and manufacturer, but is generally fairly similar across all Bluetooth headsets.
    • For most products, the process is as follows: starting with the headset powered off, you press and hold the multifunction button (the one you press when answering a call) for a few seconds. The light will blink to indicate that the unit is on (keep pressing) and after a few seconds the LED light on the headset will flash back and forth between two colors (usually green-red, but depending on the headset. ). This shows that the headset is in pairing mode.
    • If the headset has an on / off slider, turn the switch to the “on” position first and then hold down the multifunction button.

  3. Bring the headset close to the phone. The phone and headset should be placed close together when connecting. While the distance varies depending on the device, it's best to keep the phone and headset about 1.5 meters apart. advertisement

Part 2 of 2: Prepare the phone

  1. Phone charger. The Bluetooth feature can drain your phone's battery, so make sure you charge it fully.
  2. Open Bluetooth on your phone. If your phone was made after 2007, most likely it will have Bluetooth. If you see the menu “Bluetooth” on any of the following operating systems then you can continue.
    • If you're using an iPhone, tap the Settings icon and look for a menu item called Bluetooth. If you see this option, the device has Bluetooth connectivity. If next to the Bluetooth title says "off" or "off", click to turn on the feature.
    • Android users can tap the Settings icon in the app menu and find the Bluetooth option. If you see this option, the device has Bluetooth connectivity. Click to open the Bluetooth menu and slide the switch to the “on” position.
    • Windows Phone users need to open the app list and select Settings to find the Bluetooth menu. If you see this option, the device has Bluetooth connectivity. Open the menu to turn on Bluetooth.
    • If your device has Bluetooth but not a smartphone, navigate to your device's settings menu to find the Bluetooth menu. Then turn on Bluetooth from within this menu.
  3. Scan for Bluetooth device on phone. After you turn on Bluetooth, the phone automatically searches for a connectable Bluetooth device. After the search is complete, a list of devices that you can connect will appear on the screen.
    • Regular phones (not smartphones) and previous Android models may require you to manually scan for your device. If the Bluetooth menu has an option to "Scan for devices" or similar, tap to scan.
    • If you don't see any device even though Bluetooth is turned on, your headset is likely not into pairing mode. Restart the headset and turn on pairing mode again. You can review the Bluetooth headset manual to make sure that the pairing process of the headset is correct.
  4. Select the headphones you want to connect. In the list of Bluetooth-capable devices, tap the name of the headset. This can be the name of the manufacturer of the headset (such as Sony, Xiaomi) or simply "Headset".
  5. Provide a PIN if asked. When the phone "finds" the headset, the PIN may be requested. Enter this code when prompted, then press "Pair".
    • For most headsets, the code might be "0000", "1234", "9999" or "0001". If none of them work, try the last 4 characters of the serial number of the headset. (usually located underneath the battery and labeled "s / n" or "serial number").
    • There are times when the phone connects to the headset without entering the code.
  6. Click "Pair". Once the headset and phone are connected, a confirmation message will appear on the phone. The message will say "Connection Established". However, the actual message depends on your device.
  7. Hands-free calling. Headset and phone are now connected. The functionality on the headset will depend on the phone's software and operating system, but in general you just need to wear the headset comfortably for hands-free calling / listening. advertisement
