In this article, wikiHow teaches you how to diagnose and fix problems on Hulu that keep you from enjoying your favorite content.

Steps

1. 

   Check if Hulu crashes or not. Sometimes the entire Hulu service goes down or is under maintenance in your area. You can diagnose this problem by using the DownDetector tool (http://downdetector.com/status/hulu) to see if people have a similar technical problem.
   • You can check Hulu's social media accounts to see if they have an official announcement.
   • If Hulu's problem affects other people (not using the same network as you), you will most likely have to wait for Hulu to fix the problem.

   Restart the Hulu app. If Hulu is opened incorrectly, the app won't download all the information it needs to function. Please restart the Hulu app, stream, or browser to see if that fixes the problem.
   • If you are viewing Hulu in your web browser, refresh your browser by clicking the spinning arrow at the top of the window.

   Close background apps and unused tabs. If the browser or device has applications running in the background while using Hulu, the connection may be affected. Close all applications to speed up video downloads and improve quality.

   Make sure your browser and Hulu app are updated to the latest version. If you're having performance issues or if your video isn't running on Hulu, chances are your browser hasn't been updated.
   • Most browsers will notify you of new updates when you are connected to the internet.
   • If you are on a mobile device, you can check your phone or tablet's app store for an update.

   Clear Hulu's cache data. Open the Hulu app in your device's settings and select "Clear Cache". Clear cache helps to clean old files affecting Hulu's operation.
   • If the Hulu cache can't be cleared, delete and reinstall the Hulu app.
   • If you use Hulu in a web browser, clear your browser's cache data.

   Reboot the device. Similar to when Hulu does not load the entire component on boot, sometimes your device is not configured correctly connected at startup. Try rebooting the device to see if that fixes the problem.

   Move closer to the Internet router. If you cannot connect to the network due to the location of your router, try moving closer.
   • Make sure there are no walls, floors, or other objects blocking the signal between you and your router to improve your network speed.

   Reduce image quality. Select the wheel icon in the video player and lower the quality.
   • You can choose auto (Auto) lets Hulu decide the video playback quality based on the network speed.

   Limit the number of devices using Wi-Fi. Internet speed will decrease when more devices are connected to Wi-Fi. To optimize online viewing, make sure other devices (eg phones or computers) are not using Wi-Fi while you watch Hulu.
   • Especially when a family member is downloading a large file, or playing a game because this is a bandwidth-intensive activity, affecting the Hulu viewing experience.

    Detect errors by number. Depending on the number of errors or messages, the handling method will be different:
    • 3343, 3322, 3307, 2203, 3321 - Clear browser cache. If using the Hulu app, uninstall and reinstall.
    • 3370 (Chrome) Click on ⋮ > Settings > Show advanced settings (Show advanced settings)> Content settings (Content Settings) under "Privacy", and check the "Allow sites to play protected content" box.
    • 500 - Restart the Hulu browser or app. This is the fault of the Hulu site, you may have to wait for Hulu to fix the problem.
    • Play back from the beginning or repeat the content - This is a common error with Blu-Ray player. You may need to change to another device to view Hulu content.

    Test your Internet's download speed. If the maximum download speed (recorded on the package) is not fast enough to support video playback, the video will load very slowly. You need the following minimum network speed to watch video of respective resolution:
    • 720p - 3 MB / s
    • 1080p - 6 MB / s
    • 4K - 13 MB / s

    Try using an Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the computer or game console used to watch Hulu and the router. Internet connection will be more stable.
    • You cannot do that on mobile devices.
    • If you still get an error while watching online while the device is directly connected to the router, chances are the problem is with the router.
