This wikiHow teaches you how to change the wireless network (Wi-Fi) password of a TP Link router. This is the password that you will use to log into the router's network.

Steps

1. 

   Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. You need an Internet connection to access the router's page.
   • If the Wi-Fi connection is unstable, you can connect directly to the router.

   Open a web browser. To access your router's page, you'll need to enter your TP Link router's address in the address bar of your browser.

   Type 192.168.1.1 into the browser address bar. This is the TP Link router address.

   Enter your router's username and password. If you haven't changed these information then follow the full factory settings admin.
   • If you have changed the username or password but don't remember, you need to reset your router before continuing.

   Click Wireless (Wireless Network) on the left side of the page.

   Click Wireless Security (Wireless network security). Options are below the menu Wireless on the left side of the page.

   Scroll down and check the box WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK near the bottom of the page.

   Enter the new password in the "Password" field. However, this field could be named "PSK Password".

9. 

   Click the button Save (Save) is at the bottom of the page.

10. 

    Click OK when the prompt window appears. The new password will be saved, but you will need to restart your router to apply these changes.

    Click System Tools (System tools). This is at the bottom of the options column on the left side of the page.

12. 

    Click Reboot (Reboot). The task is near the bottom of the menu System Tools.

13. 

    Click OK when the prompt window appears. The router will reboot. When the network is turned back on, the new password will take effect.
    • You will need to use the new password to reconnect each device that has previously accessed the router's Wi-Fi.

• Don't reset your router unless you have to. If you have to reset your router, create a new username and password now.

• Don't change router settings without your knowledge.
