This article will show you how to cancel a sent friend request or an unwanted friend request received from someone else using the Facebook page or Facebook mobile app.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use a Facebook page

1. 

   Visit the page http://www.facebook.com. Click on the link or enter the URL into a web browser and click ⏎ Return (Come back).
   • If the site doesn't log in automatically, log in as you normally would.

   Click the two person silhouettes in the upper right of the window.

   Press the button Delete Request (Delete friend request) next to the friend invitation you want to cancel.

   Cancel a friend invitation you sent. You do the following:
   • Tap the search bar at the top of the screen.
   • Enter the name of the person to whom you sent your friend request.
   • Click on their avatar.
   • Press the button Friend Request Sent (Friend invitation sent) to the right of the person's name, at the top of your profile.
   • Choose Cancel Request (Cancel invitation), then press Cancel Request (Cancel invitation) again to confirm.

Method 2 of 2: Use the Facebook app on a mobile device

   Open the Facebook app. This application has an icon of "f " white color on a blue background.
   • If you are not logged in, please log in as usual.

2. 

   Click on the icon ☰ on the bottom right of the screen (for iPhone) or above the screen (for Android).
   • On the iPad, press Requests (Friend Invitation) at the bottom of the screen. It is a symbol with two human silhouettes.

3. 

   Press Friends (Friend). It is a symbol of two human silhouettes.

4. 

   Press Requests (Friend Invitation) at the top of the screen.

5. 

   Press the button Delete (Delete) next to the friend invitation you want to cancel.

   Press Undo (Cancel invitation) (on iPhone) or CANCEL (Cancel invitation) (on Android) next to the username to cancel a friend invitation you sent.
   • On iPhone or iPad, if you don't see the option Undo On the "Requests" screen, enter the username to which you have sent your friend request, click on their avatar, then click the button. Undo near the top of their profile page.
