This article will guide the steps required to clean a swimming pool. There are many types of water filtration systems for swimming pools such as cartridge sediment filter, sand filter and DE filter (short for diatomaceous earth). This guide assumes that you are using a sand or DE filter, however some cartridge filtration systems are similar.

Steps

  1. Turn off the skimmer (pool surface water collector) as noted on the duct.

  2. Start attaching the vacuum hose to the suction valve.
  3. Fill the hose with water before attaching the adapter to the skimmer to avoid losing head suction. Note: For some skimmer, you may need to remove the filter basket before attaching the tube. A good way to remove the remaining air in the pipe is to keep the end of the suction line above the return valve.

  4. Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Basically, you need to move very slowly and technically while you smoke. Move the nozzle in a grid pattern to ensure that the entire floor and ramp areas are clean.
  5. Unplug the suction tube from the skimmer and remove the vacuum device.

  6. Turn off the pump.
  7. Clean the descaler and hair filter bucket of the skimmer. The hair filter is usually located in a pump.
  8. Turn the filter handle to "BACKWASH" mode and turn on the pump.
  9. Continue to let the pump run until the water in the filter viewfinder becomes clear.
  10. Turn off the pump and pull the filter handle to "RINSE" (wash) mode, then turn on the pump for 60 seconds.
  11. Turn off the pump and return the handle to "FILTER" (filter) mode.
  12. Turn on the pump and the pool is ready for use. advertisement

Advice

  • A good way to initially fill the hose with water is to place the suction valve on top of the return valve. The straw will fill with water so easily that you don't have to try to hold it with an air bag!
  • Drain the garden water into the pool when you plan to smoke in "Waste" mode. By raising the water level to about the skimmer mouth, you will be able to suck longer, while keeping the water at optimum level.
  • It is a good idea to empty the tank first, wash it back later. The backwash process will remove dirt and debris from the filter. If you do not backwash, the filter will build up and become clogged, causing a lot of pressure during operation. If too much pressure is applied, the filter will soon crack or explode.
  • During the suction process, do not forget to keep an eye on the flow of water into the tank as well as the amount of water you are sucking out. If either or both of these flows start to slow down, you must turn off the pump and clean the hair filter.
  • In order to limit the pressure that could potentially damage the pump and filter, be sure to remove as much organic waste from the tank before suction as possible. This is especially important if you use a swimming pool in the spring.
  • If you are smoking a swimming pool in a very dirty state with "waste" mode, it is possible that organic debris such as leaves will be trapped in the suction pipe, hair filter or even the pump propeller.
  • If the pool is extremely dirty, it is better to "suck the pool in waste mode". When you set to "WASTE" and suck, the system will remove dirty water in the tank through the filter.
  • Some DE filters require the addition of diatoms after backwashing. Check the manufacturer's instructions for when and how to perform this action.
  • Can not Turn the filter handle while the pump is in operation as the filter inside the filter may be damaged and you will have to replace it.

Warning

  • If the multifunction valve does not have a waste filter feature - such as a standard pull-pull filter valve - then the tank should not be aspirated in backwash mode as debris will then be pushed into the filter box (with some specific filter model).
  • During the backwash or drain extraction process, make sure the water level is not drawn below the skimmer bottom. Fill the pool with water if necessary.
