Are you ready to take your Facebook chat experience to the next level? Make free video calls to your Facebook friends using the Facebook page or the Messenger app. Video chat does not require any other software, but if you call by computer, only some browsers support this feature.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use Messenger on mobile devices

1. 

   Open a conversation with the person you want to call. You will open chat with one person, currently Facebook does not support video calling in groups.

   Tap the video call button at the top of the conversation to start calling.
   • If the button is gray or not visible, the person you want to call is currently not available to receive the call.

   Wait for the other person to answer. The person you call will be notified that they are receiving a video call. They can respond using the Messenger app or Facebook page and a webcam.

   Press the camera switch button to switch between the front and rear cameras. You can touch this button during a video call to change the camera displayed on Messenger. advertisement

Method 2 of 2: Use a Facebook page

1. 

   Connect the webcam to the computer (if needed). If the computer is not connected to a webcam, you will need to install this device before starting video calling.

   Open the chat on the Facebook page. You will click on the chat box in the lower right corner to open chat if needed.
   • You need to use browsers like Chrome, Firefox or Opera. Video calling is not supported on Internet Explorer, Safari or Edge browsers.

   Select the person you want to video call. You can choose one of the people you chat with often from the list, or find someone by typing their name in the search field at the bottom of the list.
   • Currently, Facebook only supports video calling with one person. Group video calling may be added in the future.

   Click the video call button. This button looks like the shadow of a video camera. A new window will appear.
   • If you can't click the video call button, the recipient is not available to receive the call.

   Allow Facebook to access the webcam. This process will vary depending on the browser you use. Usually, you'll need to click "Allow" or "Share" to grant Facebook webcam access.

   Wait for the other person to answer. The person you call will be notified of an incoming call via Facebook or the Messenger app depending on which device they are online (online). Your video chat will start when they choose to reply. advertisement
