Converting .doc, .docx or.odf files to HTML is a simple operation, but there is no perfect method to accomplish this task. If you want to create a web page that loads quickly and displays consistently across all browsers, you can use an online tool to convert Word documents into HTML. If you want to save as many formats as possible, use the "Save As" function built into Word to convert this file.

Method 2 of 2: Use the built-in converter in Word

1. 

   Open the document in either Microsoft Word or OpenOffice. Word has the function of converting documents to HTML format built in. The resulting file is often larger than standard HTML pages, and sometimes contains formats that are not visible in all web browsers. For example, it doesn't use the standard HTML tag list for listing but depends on CSS for formatting the document.
