This wikiHow teaches you how to convert CDA to MP3 format using iTunes. CDA is a file format on a disc and cannot be played by a computer without a CD, and MP3 is a file that can be played on almost any platform. You can use iTunes on Windows and Mac computers, or download the free Any Audio Converter app to convert CDA files.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use iTunes

1. 

   Insert the CD containing the tracks you want to convert to your computer. The disc logo should face up when the disc is in the tray.
   • For Mac computers, you'll need an external CD player.

   Open the iTunes app with a multicolored musical note on a white background.
   • If iTunes opens automatically, skip this step.

3. 

   Click the round CD icon, located in the top left of the window. The CD page will open in iTunes.

   Select songs on CD. Click the track at the top of the CD playlist, then hold the key ⇧ Shift then click on the bottom song. All songs on the CD will be selected.

   Click File in the top left corner of the window (Windows) or the left side of the menu bar (Mac). A drop-down menu will open.

   Select an action Convert (Convert) near the bottom of the drop-down menu File. A window will pop up.

   Click Create MP3 Version (Make MP3 version) at the bottom of the pop-up window. If you don't see this option, you'll need:
   • Click Edit (Windows) or iTunes (Mac)
   • Choose Preferences ... (Custom)
   • Click Import Settings ... (Import settings)
   • Click on the drop-down box Import Using (Use import)
   • Choose MP3 Encoder (Convert MP3)
   • Press OK
   • Click OK again to return to the page.

   Wait for the CD conversion to complete. After converting, you can remove the disc. If you want to view MP3 files, click the tab Recently Added (Recently Added) in the top left corner of the page and select the album CD.
   • You can also navigate to the MP3 files of the CD on the computer by selecting the file, clicking File in the upper left corner, then click Show in File Explorer (Windows) good Show in Finder (Mac).

Method 2 of 2: use Any Audio Converter (AAC)

1. 

   Open the Any Audio Converter download page. Visit http://www.any-audio-converter.com/.

2. 

   Click the button Free Download (Free download) right in the middle of the page. You need to click the correct link below the "Windows" or "Mac" heading for the type of computer you use.

3. 

   Install Any Audio Converter as follows:
   • Windows - Double click the setup file, click Yes When prompted, click Custom Install (Customize Settings), uncheck the unnecessary items and click Back (Back), click Next Install (Settings), click Back then click Install once again.
   • Mac - Double-click the Any Audio Converter file, confirm if prompted, then follow the on-screen instructions.

   Open Any Audio Converter with a blue and black record icon.

   Insert the CD into the computer. The disc logo should face up when the disc is in the tray. The content on the disc will open in the Any Audio Converter window.
   • For Mac computers, you'll need an external CD player.
   • If the CD does not open automatically in Any Audio Converter, click Add CD Disc (Add CD) in the top left corner, select your CD drive and click OK before continuing.

6. 

   Click the "Format" drop-down box at the top right of the window. A drop-down menu will appear.

   Click the "Music" tab with a note on the bottom left of the drop-down menu.

   Click MP3 Audio to select MP3 as the output format.

9. 

   Click Convert Now! (Convert now!). The action is in the upper-right corner of the AAC window. The CD recordings will begin to be converted to MP3 files.

10. 

    Wait for the process to complete. After AAC converts the CDA file to MP3 format, a File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) window will open where the converted file is stored.
    • You can manually access the folder containing these songs as follows: click the image button ⚙️ in the upper right corner of the AAC window, click Open ... (Open) to the right of the "Set Output Folder" heading, then double-click the folder MP3.

Advice

• iTunes usually imports CD contents into iTunes library as AAC files, they can be played by default without the CD.

Warning

• When installing Any Audio Converter without unchecked to download more software, the computer will be installed with additional programs (eg Yahoo search engine).
