This wikiHow teaches you how to play 2 player games on your Nintendo Switch. You can play 2-player games by panning and using the joy-con controller; or one player is using a joy-con, while the other is using a Switch Pro controller.

Steps

1. 

   Remove the joy-con handle. To remove the joy-con gaming console, you need to take it out of the dock (if it's attached) and flip it over. Hold down the round button next to the ZL and ZR buttons on the back of the joy-con, then slide the handle out of the device. Do the same with the other joy-con.

   Attach a joy-con strap. This device consists of thin two-button pieces attached to the wristband. The joy-con strap is engraved with a "+" or "-" mark on the top. You need to attach it so that the "+" and "-" buttons on the joy-con controller correspond to the "+" or "-" mark engraved on the strap. Slide the bottom opening of the strap over the groove located next to the joy-con handle until the two devices snap into place.
   • To open the joy-con strap, push the slide switch located underneath the strap and slide it up to remove.
   • If one user has a Switch Pro controller, the other player can mount both joy-con controllers in the controller to turn them into a standalone gaming controller.

   Select the joy-con icon. The joy-con icon on the home screen is the gaming controller settings menu. This is where you can set up a gaming controller for 2 people.
   • You can select items on the Nintendo Switch by pressing the screen, or use the controller to go to the item and press the "A" button.

   Choose Change Grip / Order. This option is at the top of the controller settings menu.

   Press the button R+L on both controller game play. If you are using a joy-con for 2-player play, you need to rotate the handles so that the analog stick is on the left. Then, press the two (R&L) buttons on the top of the strap. If you are using a Pro controller or another controller, press the R&L button on both handles you want to use.

   Choose a 2 player game. There are many 2 player games on the Nintendo Switch. You can buy games from Nintendo eShop or store. Check the information on the back of the box or on the Nintendo eShop page to see if the game supports players.

7. 

   Choose the 2-person mode. When the title screen of the game appears, select "multiplayer / two player mode" to start playing 2 players. advertisement
