WhatsApp is a popular free messaging service used by millions of people worldwide. To use WhatsApp, users must register their phone number to receive a verification code and activate the account. While there is no one-size-fits-all way to avoid the verification code, it is possible to create a toll-free and alternate phone number to complete the activation process. This can come in handy if you don't have a smartphone or if you don't want to use your number for WhatsApp. This article will show you how to activate WhatsApp without a mobile number on an iOS or Android device and how to activate it without a phone on a computer running Windows.

Method 1 of 4: Create a new phone number

1. Install Google Voice on your smartphone or tablet.
   • If you're using a computer, go to: https://voice.google.com/u/2/about
   • Google Voice is a free app that you can use on Android in the Open the Google Voice app or website. The app's icon resembles a white phone on a green speech bubble. It will either be on your home screen or in your apps list.
   • Log in to your Google account to continue.
     • If you're using a computer, you may need to select For Personal Use or For Work before signing in to your account.
     • If you don't have a Google account, you can create an account by pressing Add account at the bottom of the screen and Create account on the next screen. After that, you will need a Gmail address for the Google account.
   • Press Search in the lower right corner of the screen. This will allow you to search the area for available numbers.
     • On a computer, you must select Continue to start the search.
     • On a computer, you may also need to select "iOS", "Android" or "Desktop". Select "Android" because we are using WhatsApp on an emulator for Android.
   • Select the city closest to your location. This will give you a list of available songs in that area. You can also type the name of a city in the search bar if you prefer.
   • Press or click Selecting next to the desired phone number.
   • Select Accepted number at the bottom of the next screen. You can also press the Press Next one to link your device with Google Voice.
     • On a computer, you should select Verify instead.
   • Tap or click the box to enter your phone number. This is under "Enter your phone number" at the top of the screen or popup menu.
     • If you don't have a mobile number, you can also use a landline. You only need temporary access to this number to complete this procedure.
   • Select Send code to receive a verification code. If you're using a landline, press Verify by phone instead.
   • Enter the verification code you just received. If you have not received a text message or call, press Resend code.
   • Press on the Press or click Next one and then on Complete to complete the procedure. You will now have a free phone number that you can use to activate WhatsApp.
     • On a computer, you will also have the option to link additional landlines to your Google Voice number while you go through this procedure.

Method 2 of 4: Activate WhatsApp on iOS or Android

1. Install WhatsApp on your smartphone or tablet.
   • WhatsApp can be downloaded for free in the Open WhatsApp. This app's icon is a white phone on a green background and is either on your home screen or in your list of other apps.
   • Press Agree and continue at the bottom of the screen.
   • Enter the new phone number in the field and press Next one. WhatsApp will send a text message to this number.
   • Press OK in the popup window to verify the phone number.
   • Open the verification message in Google Voice. If you have not received a message, either press Resend SMS or Call me to obtain the verification code.
   • Enter the verification code in WhatsApp. The app will automatically verify the number.
   • Press Not now or Continue in the popup window. Select "Continue" if you want to backup WhatsApp to Google Drive at this point.
   • Enter your name in the next screen to complete the installation. Now you have activated WhatsApp with an alternate phone number.

Method 3 of 4: Activate WhatsApp on a computer with Windows

1. Open your internet browser on your computer.
2. Go to the BlueStacks website.
   • Enter this link: https://www.bluestacks.com/download.html.
   • BlueStacks is one of the most popular free emulators for Android, but this procedure is very similar if you decide to use a different emulator. You shouldn't be using BlueStacks, but you will need an Android emulator to continue.
3. Select To download at the top center of the screen. You will then have to indicate where you want to save the download file.
4. Open and install BlueStacks on your computer. This procedure will determine where to install BlueStacks and what other features you wish to adjust during the installation procedure.
5. Open BlueStacks. The icon resembles green, yellow, red, and blue squares stacked on top of each other. It is usually on your desktop or you can click on Open the Search for WhatsApp in the search bar at the top. The app's official icon is a white phone on a green background.
6. click on to install and To open when you are done. This will open WhatsApp in BlueStacks.
   • You can also open WhatsApp by clicking the icon on your home screen once it is installed. The icon resembles a white telephone on a green background.
7. Click at the bottom of the screen Agree and continue.
8. Enter the new phone number in the field and press Next one. WhatsApp will send a text message to this number.
9. click on OK in the popup window to verify the phone number.
10. Open the verification message in Google Voice. If you have not received a message, either press Resend SMS or Call me to obtain the verification code.
11. Enter the verification code in WhatsApp. The app will immediately verify the number automatically.
12. click on Not now or Continue in the popup window. Select "Continue" if you want to backup WhatsApp to Google Drive at this point.
13. Enter your name in the next screen to complete the installation. Now you have activated WhatsApp with an alternate phone number and without needing a smartphone.

Method 4 of 4: Activate WhatsApp Web on a computer

1. Open your internet browser on a computer. These steps should be the same for PC and Mac.
2. Go to https://web.whatsapp.com. The steps to install WhatsApp should be in the top corner along with a QR code.
3. Open WhatsApp on your Android iOS device. The app's icon is a white phone on a green background. You can find this either on your home screen or in your list of other apps.
   • You need a WhatsApp account to complete this procedure. Follow the steps above if necessary.
4. Press the menu icon ⋮ in the top right corner of the screen.
5. Press WhatsApp Web in the dropdown menu.
6. On the next screen, press OK UNDERSTOOD to proceed to.
   • You may need to grant WhatsApp access to your camera. Follow the instructions on the screen to proceed.
7. Keep your phone's camera pointed at your computer screen. Once the QR code appears in the middle of the box, the app will recognize the code and you will be logged in to WhatsApp Web.
