Shoes can be made of a variety of materials, such as leather, nylon, polyester, and acrylic. If you want to remove a waterproof ink stain from the fabric of your shoes, use distilled white vinegar. If you want to remove waterproof marker from leather, try suntan lotion. A miracle sponge is also an excellent way to remove stains from both fabric and leather.

Method 1 of 3: Use distilled white vinegar on fabric

1. Mix the ingredients. Mix one tablespoon (15 ml) of distilled white vinegar with one tablespoon (15 ml) of dishwashing liquid and 500 ml of cold water. Use a large mixing spoon to mix the ingredients. Stir through the ingredients until well blended.
2. Buy a miracle sponge. You can find a miracle sponge on the shelf with cleaning products at the supermarket and drugstore. A miracle sponge is an excellent way to remove waterproof marker from fabric and leather.
   • If the stain on your shoes is in both fabric and leather, consider using a miracle sponge.
3. Rinse with soap and water. When the stain has disappeared, clean the area in question with water and a mild soap. Use a clean cloth for this. Then dry the area with a clean, dry cloth.

Warnings

• Do not use distilled white vinegar on cotton and linen.
• Do not use nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol on triacetate, acetate, and viscose.
• Do not use hairspray and nail polish remover on leather.
