This article will teach you how to add a Discord user to your personal friends list on a computer, phone or tablet. You can easily send a friend request to any user if you know their unique Discord Tag. They are immediately added to your friends list when they accept your request.

Method 1 of 2: With a computer

1. Open Discord on your computer. Discord's icon resembles a white joystick in a purple circle.
   • You can use the Discord app on your computer or consult the internet client via the browser at https://discord.com.
2. Click the Start button at the top left. This button resembles a white joystick in a purple square and is located in the top left corner of the app window.
3. Click on in the left menu Friends. This option is in the Start menu near the top left corner of the app window. It's next to a waving figurehead icon above the "MESSAGES" list.
4. Click the green button at the top Add friend. This button is located at the top of the "Friends" page. This will open the page to send a friend request.
5. Type your friend's Discord Tag under "ADD FRIEND". Click the "Enter a DiscordTag # 0000" field at the top of the page and enter your friend's unique Discord Tag here.
   • Your friend's Discord Tag is their username followed by a "#" and a unique 4-digit code.
6. Press the button Send friend request. This is the blue button to the right of the text field. This will send your friend request to this user.
   • The user will be added to your friends list once your request has been accepted.

Method 2 of 2: With a phone or tablet

1. Open the Discord app on your phone or tablet. Discord's icon resembles a white joystick in a purple circle.
   • You can use the Discord mobile app on all models of iPhone, iPad and Android.
2. Press the three-line menu button ☰. This button is in the top left corner of the screen. This will open the navigation menu.
3. Press the Start button at the top left. This button resembles the icon of three figureheads in a circle. This will open your "MESSAGES" list.
4. Press Friends in the Start menu. This button is next to a waving figurehead above your "MESSAGES" list.
5. Press the white figurehead and the "+" icon at the top right. This button is in the top right corner of the "Friends" page. This will open the "Add Friend" form on a new page.
6. Enter your friend's Discord Tag in the "DiscordTag # 0000" field. Tap the text field at the top of the page and enter your friend's Discord Tag here.
   • A Discord Tag is your friend's username followed by "#" and a unique 4-digit code.
   • You can also press the "START SCANNING NEARBY" button at the bottom and use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to find and add Discord users near you.
7. Press the button TO SEND. This is the blue button on the right side of the page. This will send your friend request to the selected user.
   • The user will be added to your friends list as soon as your request has been accepted.

Tips

• Make sure you know the person can be trusted before talking to them or adding them to your friends list.
