When you delete images from a computer with Microsoft Windows installed or from a memory card, the link to the data disappears, but the data itself is still in the same place on the hard drive. If you are quick, you may still be able to recover the deleted images. If this is no longer possible via the Recycle Bin, you can try to restore previously saved versions of the files. For this you need a special program that you can download from the internet.

Method 1 of 3: Recover deleted images from Recycle Bin

1. Open the Recycle Bin (you can find it on the desktop or in the Start menu) and look there for the deleted images.
2. Select the files or folders you want to restore.
3. Right click and choose "Restore" from the menu. This will move the files back to the old location.

Method 2 of 3: Get back previous versions of deleted images

1. Open the Start menu and select "Computer" to find the folder containing the image files you deleted. Make sure this is not a library file, but the actual folder where the images were stored.
2. Right-click on the folder and choose "Restore previous versions" from the pop-up menu.If your files were in a folder on a particular disk drive, such as C: , select "Restore previous versions" by clicking on that specific drive.
3. View the list of previous versions of that folder or the files in that folder or drive. Determine the most recent version of the images, or the folder they are in, and double-click to restore.
4. Move the deleted images or the folder they are in to a new location on your computer by clicking and dragging them to that location in the menu on the left side of the "Computer" window. Ideal locations for this are a new folder, the desktop, or an external hard drive.

Method 3 of 3: Recover deleted photos from your camera or memory card

1. Connect your camera to the USB port on your computer. Some computers have card readers, so you can insert the memory card directly into the computer.
2. Download a photo recovery program for memory cards. Find a free program that you don't need to install on your computer, such as Stellar Photo Recovery, PC Inspector Smart Recovery, or the Kingston Memory Card Data Recovery Tool.
3. Run the program by double clicking on it (on the .exe).
4. Choose the drive from which the images have been deleted. This is one of the available memory cards or the camera.
5. Indicate a location where you want to place the recovered files..
6. Begin the recovery process by clicking "Start". Depending on the number of deleted image files you want to recover, this process can take a few minutes, up to several hours.
