Blanching consists of two important steps: cook vegetables very briefly and then immediately put them in ice water. If you do well with green beans, they will stay crispier, have a brighter color and retain more flavor. Here are some tips for blanching green beans.

Method 1 of 2: Blanch the beans
- Sauté the green beans in a frying pan after blanching. While this is not an alternative to blanching in water, you can add delicious flavors to your blanched beans.
- Preheat a large skillet after drying your beans. Add oil or butter to the pan and heat it for about 30 seconds. Add the beans and continue to sauté until covered with a layer of butter and heated through. Remove the green beans from the pan and add lemon, salt and pepper.
- For even more flavor, you can fry the red pepper and garlic in the butter before adding the beans.
Tips
- In the summer there are plenty of green beans. Then they are at their best.
- Support local farmers - buy your beans from a local farmer. Local food is better for the environment, the community and your health!
Warnings
- Of course you have to be very careful with boiling water.
