If you have the right equipment, it is relatively easy to transfer a song from a CD to a computer. Once you've done that, you can burn it to another CD, transfer it to your MP3 player or play it on your computer. Well worth it!

To step

  1. Insert the CD into your computer's CD drive.
  2. Open a program that allows you to rip songs to your computer. For example, you can use iTunes or Windows Media Player.
  3. Rip the songs from the CD to your computer. With iTunes you do this by clicking on the button that says "Import". For Windows Media Player, press the "Rip" button at the top of the window, in the middle.
  4. Check where the songs are stored after ripping. In iTunes you can view the location in Preferences, in Windows Media you will see it in the top left corner of the screen.
  5. In Windows Media, select the check boxes of the songs you want to rip. If you want to rip all songs, click the check box next to Album.
  6. After choosing the songs, click the button in the lower right corner that says "Start ripping".
  7. Remove the CD when you're done. The music is now in your library.
