This wikiHow teaches you how to disable multimedia messages (MMS) on a Samsung Galaxy. You can prevent your SMS text messages from automatically converting to MMS, or block all MMS services manually from your message settings.

Part 1 of 2: Block conversion from SMS to MMS

1. Open the Messages app on your Galaxy. This app usually looks like a speech bubble icon. You can find it on your home screen or in the Apps menu.
2. At the top right, tap the ⋮ icon. This opens a selection menu.
3. Tap on Settings in the selection menu. This will open your post settings in a new page.
4. Tap on More settings. This is at the bottom of the menu.
5. Tap on Multimedia messages.
6. Tap on Set restrictions. This is at the bottom of the Multimedia messages menu. It will open your options in a drop-down menu.
7. Select Limitations from the drop-down menu. This prevents your text messages from being automatically converted to MMS.
   • If you send photos, audio or video in the Messages app it will still be converted and sent as MMS.
8. Slide the Automatic retrieval switch to Open your Galaxy's settings app. Tap the wrench or gear icon in your Apps menu, or slide the notification bar down from the top of your screen and tap Tap at the top Connections. This is the first option at the top of the settings menu.
9. Tap on Mobile networks on the connections page.
10. Tap on Names of access points. This will open a list of the saved mobile network access points on your SIM card.
    • If you're using multiple SIM cards, you'll see multiple SIM tabs at the top. You can switch between the settings of your different phone accounts here.
11. Scroll down and search for Mmsc, MMS proxy, and MMS port.
    • These settings must be editable to block the MMS service manually.
    • If these settings are gray, you cannot manually block your MMS access points. You need to contact your mobile service provider.
12. Tap one of the Mmsc, MMS proxy, or MMS port options. This will open the current setting of the selected option.
    • You must repeat this process for each of these three options.
13. Type one * or # at the start of the access point. Tap the start of each line and add an asterisk or hash. This will manually disable your MMS access point.
    • If you want to reactivate your MMS service, simply delete the "*’ or '#’.
14. Edit all three Mmsc, MMS proxy, and MMS port options. You must tap each option in the Settings menu and insert a " *" or "#" at the beginning of each line.
15. Contact your mobile service provider. Some mobile operators do not allow you to manually change your MMS access point settings on your phone. In some areas you will need to contact your service provider to have the MMS service blocked for you.
