This article will teach you how to use Facebook to search for people in a specific location. For this to work, the person you are looking for must have entered an accurate location on his or her profile. You can search for people by location on both the Facebook mobile app and the website.

Method 1 of 2: Mobile

1. Open Facebook. The Facebook app icon resembles a white "f" on a dark blue background. Facebook will open on your News Feed if you are already logged in.
   • If you are not logged in yet, enter your email address (or phone number) and password and press "Login".
2. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen. This will bring up your device's keyboard.
3. Enter the name of a person. Type the name of a person and then press "Search".
4. Press the tab People at the top left of the page. This will limit your search to people only.
5. Press the tab City ▼. This is located at the bottom and to the right of the "People" tab at the top of the screen. This will open a window at the bottom of the screen.
6. Press the search bar "Search for a city". This is at the top of the window that has appeared at the bottom of the screen.
7. Type the name of a city. As you type, you will see suggestions appear below the search bar.
8. Tap on the city you want to search in. It should be below the search bar.
9. Press To apply in the top right corner of the "City" window at the bottom of the screen. This will bring up a list of people who have both the name and location you entered in their profile.
   • For example, if you typed "Piet Bibber" as the name and selected Amsterdam as the city, Facebook will display a list of all users named Piet Bibber who have set Amsterdam as their location.

Method 2 of 2: On a desktop

1. Open Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/. If you are logged in, this will open your Facebook News Feed.
   • If you are not logged in yet, enter your email address (or phone number) and password and press "Login".
2. Click on the search bar. This field is at the top of the Facebook page.
3. Enter a person's name. Type the name of the person you are looking for and then press ↵ Enter. This will display a list of people in your area with a matching (or similar) name.
4. Click on the tab People just below the search bar at the top of the Facebook page.
5. click on the link Choose a city. This link is on the left side of the page and under the heading "City". Clicking on this will open a search bar.
6. Type the name of a city. You will see suggestions appear below the search bar as you type.
7. Click on the name of a city. It should be below the search bar. This will reload the search results to show people who have both the name and city you entered in their profile.
   • For example, if you typed "Sarah Timmers" as the name and selected Brussels as the city, Facebook will display a list of all users named Sarah Timmers who have Brussels as their location.

Tips

• Search by location only works when the person you are looking for has a location set on his or her profile.
