This article will show you how to prevent Facebook from sending text message notifications to your mobile phone, even if you don't have an active Facebook account. If you receive unwanted messages in the Facebook Messenger app, know that you can block them in Messenger.

Method 1 of 4: With your phone

1. Open your text messaging (SMS) app. You can send a text message to a special Facebook number to block notifications from Facebook, even if you are not a member of Facebook.
2. Start a new text message addressed to the Facebook SMS number. This number differs depending on the country from which you send the message. You can find the exact number based on your country and network provider on the Facebook help page. Below are some examples:
   • US, UK, Brazil, Mexico, Canada - 32665 (May vary)
   • Ireland - 51325
   • India - 51555
3. Type Stop as message.
4. Send the text. You may be informed of the cost to send the message. This is normal and it only lets you know that you will pay the normal price of a text message to send the message.
5. Wait for the answer. You will receive a text reply from another number, indicating that Facebook notifications are now turned off. Now you should no longer receive messages from Facebook on your mobile number.

Method 2 of 4: Using the Facebook app (iPhone)

1. Open the Facebook app. Make sure you are signed in with the Facebook account for which you want to change the notification settings.
2. Press the ☰ button in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. Scroll down and press Settings.
4. Press Account Settings.
5. Tap Notifications.
6. Press Text message.
7. Press Customize in the Notifications field.
8. Press the Receive text notifications field to check it off. You will now no longer receive text messages on this mobile number.

Method 3 of 4: Using the Facebook app (Android)

1. Open the Facebook app. You must be signed in with the Facebook account for which you wish to change the notification settings.
2. Press the ☰ button in the top right corner of the screen.
3. Scroll down and press Account Settings. This is in the "Help & Settings" section.
4. Tap Notifications.
5. Press Text message.
6. Press Customize in the Notifications section.
7. Press the Receive text notifications field to check it off. You will no longer receive text notifications for your Facebook account.

Method 4 of 4: With the Facebook website

1. Go to the Facebook website. You can use the Facebook website to adjust the settings of your text notifications and to completely remove your phone number from your account.
2. Log in with your Facebook account. Make sure you are signed in with the account associated with the mobile number for which you want to block text messages.
3. Click the ▼ button. This is in the top right corner of the Facebook page after you log in, at the end of the blue bar.
4. Click on Settings.
5. Click the Notifications tab to the left of the page.
6. Click the Text Message item.
7. Click the radio button Off.
8. Click Save Changes. New notifications will no longer be sent to your mobile number.
9. Remove your phone number completely if the notifications don't stop. If you still receive messages from Facebook, you can completely delete your phone number:
   • Log in to Facebook and open the "Settings" menu.
   • Click on the "Mobile" tab.
   • Click "Delete" next to your phone number.
   • Click on "Remove Phone" to confirm.
