Many people enjoy playing games on Facebook, but those people are far in the minority. Unfortunately, many games require players to send others invitations and notifications to their friends in order to spread the word about the game. Checking this constant stream of notifications can get tedious, but luckily there are ways to turn these notifications off completely. If you play games on Facebook, you can indicate which notifications you want to receive for that game. If you receive invitations and notifications for other games, you can block them so you don't have to see them again.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Changing the notifications of the games you are playing

  1. Log in to Facebook. You can change Notification Settings from the desktop website, mobile site, and mobile app.
  2. Open the Settings page. You can use this menu to change your Notifications settings, among other things.
    • Desktop Site - Click the ▼ button at the top of the page and select "Settings".
    • Mobile site and Facebook app - Tap the ☰ button and scroll down. Then tap on "Account Settings".
  3. Open the "Notifications" group. This menu manages all your Facebook notification settings.
    • Desktop site - Click on "Notifications" in the left menu on the Settings page.
    • Mobile site and Facebook app - Tap the "Notifications" option in the third group of options.
  4. Open the list of your Facebook apps. This is a list of all apps associated with your Facebook account, including any Facebook games you play.
    • Desktop Site - Click on "App Requests and Activity" at the bottom of the page.
    • Mobile site and Facebook app - Tap "Notifications from apps" at the bottom of the page.
  5. Turn off the apps you don't want to receive notifications for. By default, all your linked apps have permission to send you notifications. Uncheck apps or use the drop-down menu and select "Off". You will no longer receive notifications on your account from that app.
    • This will not prevent you from getting notifications from other people. See the next section for information on how to block notifications that other users send you about games.

Method 2 of 2: Blocking friend's game notifications

  1. Log in to your Facebook account on your computer. The only way to completely block game notifications is to use the desktop version of the Facebook site. You cannot change these settings from the mobile site or the Facebook app. It is not possible to permanently block all game notifications, but you can block individual games if you are affected.
  2. Open your Settings page. Click the ▼ button at the top of the page and select "Settings".
  3. Click on the "Block" option. You can find these in the menu on the left of the Settings page.
  4. Enter the name of the game you want to block in the "Block apps" field. If you are constantly getting invitations and notifications for a specific game, you can enter it in the field and block it completely. You will then see a list of matching titles appear while you are typing. Select the game from the list and you will not receive any notifications or invitations for it.
  5. Block game notifications from certain friends with the "Block apps invitations" field. If the majority of your games spam comes from a specific person on your friends list, then you can block any future invite from that person. The person will not be notified that you have blocked their game notifications and will remain on your friends list. Other forms of communication between you will not be changed by this. Type the person's name in the "Block Invitations From" field and select the person from the list that appears.
