This wikiHow teaches you how to set up your Android voicemail for the first time.
To step
- Open your Android's Phone app. It usually looks like a phone receiver at the bottom of the home screen.
- Keep the 1 - key pressed. If this is your first time setting up your voicemail, you will likely see a message saying "There is no voicemail number stored on the card."
- If you press this button and are immediately forwarded to your voicemail service, listen to the instructions on how to complete the setup process.
- Tap on Add number.
- Tap on Service. This is the first option in the list.
- Tap on My provider.
- Tap on Set up. You should now see an area labeled "Voicemail Number" with the value "Not Set".
- Tap on Voicemail number.
- Enter your mobile phone number and tap OK. You are now ready to set up your voicemail.
- Go back to the phone app. Tap the back button until you see the keyboard. If this doesn't work, tap the icon Phone on the home screen.
- Keep the 1 - key on the keyboard pressed. This will call your voicemail.
- Listen to and follow the instructions to complete the process. The rest of the steps vary by carrier, but usually you'll be asked to set up an outgoing message, create a password, and select some playback settings.
- If you want to check your voicemail in the future, keep 1 or tap the voicemail notification on the screen.
