This article teaches you how to set your privacy settings in Snapchat so that only your friends can communicate with you, get your Snaps, and see your Stories.

To step

1. Open Snapchat. This is a yellow app with a ghost.
   • If you are not already signed in to Snapchat, the app will ask you to do so.
2. Swipe down on the camera screen. This is how you open your profile page.
3. Tap ⚙. This icon is in the top right corner of the screen. You open the settings.
4. Scroll down and tap contact me. This is stated under the text "Who can ..."
5. Tap My Friends. This ensures that only friends you have added on Snapchat can reach you with Snaps, conversations and calls.
   • If someone you're not friends with sends you a Snap, you'll be notified. Then if you add this person as a friend, you will be able to see their Snap.
6. Tap the button to return to the settings menu. This button can be found in the top left corner of your screen.
7. Tap "View My Story". This is also stated under the text "Who can ..."
8. Tap My Friends. This will ensure that only friends you've added on Snapchat can see your Story.
   • You can also click "Custom" to create your own list of friends who can view your Story.
9. Tap the button to return to the settings menu.
10. Tap "view me in Quick add". This is also stated under the text "Who can ..."
11. Uncheck the "Show me in Quick Add" button. The button will now turn white. This will ensure that you cannot be added in the "Quick Add" section by friends of friends.
    • With these three settings, you have made your account private, and only your friends can still contact you, view your Story, and add you via "Quick Add".

Tips

• Before entering a group conversation, always see who is in the group by pressing and holding the name of the conversation in the conversation window. Even if you have your privacy settings on "My Friends", all members of a group will be able to communicate with you when you are in a group conversation.

Warnings

• If you added Snaps to your Story before changing your privacy settings, others will still be able to see those Snaps.
