There are three different types of LG phones. You have the smartphones with a touchscreen. Sliding phones have a touchscreen and a keyboard that slides out. Phones with a flip are not smartphones and you have to flip open to answer a call and close to end a call. Each of these types of phones have a different turn-on method.

Find out what type of phone you have

1. Find out what type of LG phone you have.
   • If your phone has a touch scene and no extra keyboard, you have a smartphone.
   • If your phone has a touchscreen and a keyboard that slides out, you have a sliding phone.
   • If your phone can fold open and close, you have a phone with a cover.

Method 1 of 4: Turn on a smartphone

1. Make sure your phone's battery is charged. One of the reasons why your phone may not turn on is that the battery may be dead. Connect the phone to the charger that came with your phone.
   • You can also charge your phone by connecting it to your PC via a USB cable.
2. Turn on your phone. Most LG phones have the power button on the back of the phone, below the camera lens. Press and hold the power button to turn on the phone. Stop pressing the button when the screen lights up.
   • To turn off the phone, press and hold the power button on the back of the phone.
   • Older LG phones have the on / off button on the top right side of the phone. Press and hold the power button to turn it on.

Method 2 of 4: Turn on a slide phone

1. Make sure your phone's battery is charged. One of the reasons that your phone may not turn on is because the battery may be dead. Connect the phone to the charger that came with your phone.
   • You can also charge your phone by connecting it to the computer via a USB cable.
2. Turn on your phone. With LG devices that you can slide open, the on / off / end button is always located at the bottom right of the front of the phone. The button has a curved line with a circle below it. To turn on the phone, press and hold the power / end button until the screen lights up. Then stop pressing the button.
   • To turn off the phone, press and hold the power / end button until the screen turns off.

Method 3 of 4: Turn on phones with a flip

1. Make sure your phone's battery is charged. One of the reasons that your phone may not turn on is that the battery may be dead. Connect the phone to the charger that came with your phone.
2. Turn on the phone. To switch the LG phones with a cover on and off, you have to press the button with which you end a call. Open the phone flip then press and hold the end / power key until the screen turns on.
   • To turn off the phone, press and hold the end / power key until the screen turns off.

Method 4 of 4: Find your phone manual

1. Go to the LG website.
2. Enter the model number of your phone. In the "Type number" or "Enter name" field, enter the model number or name of your phone, then click "Search".
   • If you don't know the model number or name of your phone, in the CATEGORY SEARCH section, click MOBILE, then MOBILE PHONES. In the SUB CATEGORY list, find the type of phone you have and click on it. In the MODEL NUMBER list, find the model number of your phone, click it and scroll down to find the link to the user guide.
   • If you don't know the model number or name of your phone, finding a manual for a similar device can help you locate the phone's power button.
