If you no longer want to read news and updates from certain friends, then you'll be happy to know that you can mute them - or in Facebook terminology, 'unfollow' - all without having to block their social taboo process or remove it as a friend! After you mute a user, his or her updates will no longer appear in your news feed; lucky for you, the selected user will not know that you muted him or her. You can also mute user messages in Facebook's "Messenger" feature.

Tips

  • You can also block your friends if you don't want them to see or find your profile.
  • Unfollowing someone on Facebook won't take away their ability to view or comment on your profile, nor will it prevent you from searching for and viewing their profile.

Warnings

  • If you stop following someone you spoke to regularly, he or she might notice your sudden absence from his or her status, among other things.
