This wikiHow teaches you how to find the height of a Google Maps location on an Android phone or tablet. While specific elevations are not available for all areas, you can use the terrain map to find estimates in more mountainous regions.

To step

1. Open Google Maps on your Android. This is the map icon that is usually on the home screen or between your apps.
2. Click on it ≡ menu or the icon outlined in green in the image. The menu can be found in the top left corner of the screen.
3. Scroll down and click Terrain. Changes the map to show terrain such as hills, valleys, and passes.
4. Zoom in on the map so you can see the contour lines. These are the light gray lines that surround the areas of different heights.
   • To zoom in, place two fingers on the map and then spread them apart on the screen.
   • To zoom out, move two fingers together on the screen.
