This wikiHow shows you how to adjust the volume of a Samsung Smart TV with a Samsung remote. There are many models of Samsung remotes, so the location of the buttons differs. If you can't adjust the volume with the volume buttons on your remote or TV panel, you may need to turn off auto volume in your TV's settings. If your TV is set to play sound through a receiver and / or external speakers, you may need to use a different remote (or change the volume of the speakers manually) to adjust the volume.

Method 1 of 2: Using a Samsung Smart TV remote

1. Turn on your TV. You can turn on your TV by pressing the button with the red circle with a line through the top. You can find this at the top right of the remote control. You can also press the power button on your TV panel.
   • If the volume buttons on your Samsung remote don't work (or the volume keeps changing while you're watching TV) you may need to turn off Auto Volume in your TV's settings.
   • If your TV is set to play sound through external speakers, you may also need to adjust the volume on those speakers.
2. Find the volume switch. There are different models of the Samsung Smart Remote. The location of the volume buttons varies slightly by model.
   • Most remotes have a plus button + to increase the volume, and a minus button - to lower it.
   • Other remotes have one bar-shaped button with the text "VOL" underneath. When you see this button (usually at the bottom of the remote), use it to increase and decrease the volume.
3. Press on the + button to increase the volume. If your remote has a "VOL" bar, push it up with your thumb to increase the volume.
   • When you increase the volume, a bar appears on the TV screen showing the volume on a scale. The left side of the scale (0) is the softest, and the right side (100) is the hardest.
4. Press on the - button to decrease the volume. If your remote has a "VOL" bar, push it down with your thumb to decrease the volume.
5. Press MUTE to mute the sound temporarily. The button may look like a speaker icon with an X over it.
   • Press MUTE again to turn the sound back on.

Method 2 of 2: Turn off Auto Volume

1. Turn on your TV. You can turn on your TV by pressing the power button in the top left corner of your remote control, or the power button on your TV panel.
   • Use this method if your TV's volume keeps changing while you're watching TV, or if adjusting the volume with your Samsung remote doesn't work.
   • There are many versions of Samsung remotes, but this method should work for almost all models.
2. Press on the Start button on your Samsung remote. This is the button that looks like a house. This will take you to the home screen of your TV.
   • If you don't see this option, press ≣ Menu.
3. Select Settings. Use the arrows on the remote to navigate up and down through the menu. Press right to enter a submenu.
   • If you clicked in the previous step ≣ Menu you can skip this step.
4. Select Sound. This opens the sound settings.
5. Select Expert settings or Other settings. This option varies by model.
   • If you don't see any of these options, look for Speaker Settings.
6. Select Auto Volume. You can find this option at the bottom of the menu. Three options will appear:
   • Normal: This evens out the sound so that the volume remains consistent when changing channels and video sources.
   • Night: This equalizes the sound, so that the volume remains low when you watch TV late at night. This mode turns off auto volume during the day.
   • From: This turns off auto volume.
7. Select from. If Auto Volume is set to "Normal" or "Night", your volume will likely change while watching TV. Changing this setting ensures that your TV doesn't change the volume on its own without your input.
