This wikiHow teaches you how to enable and use the Bitmoji keyboard on your Android phone. Most Androids require you to use Bitmoji in conjunction with the Gboard keyboard to do this.

Part 1 of 3: Installing Gboard and Bitmoji

1. Open the Tap the search bar. It's at the top of the screen. Your Android keyboard will appear.
2. Search for Gboard. Type gboard then tap Gboard - the Google keyboard from the drop-down menu.
3. Tap on INSTALL. This is a green button in the top right corner of the screen. This will prompt Gboard to install on your Android.
4. Download and install Bitmoji if necessary. If you have not yet downloaded the Bitmoji app and have set up a profile, you will need to do this before you can use Bitmoji on your Android.
   • You can download Bitmoji for free from the Google Play Store.
   • If you have a Bitmoji account through Snapchat, sign in to your Bitmoji account with your Snapchat credentials.

Part 2 of 3: Enable Gboard and Bitmoji

1. Open Settings. Swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen, then tap the gear icon SettingsScroll down and tap Language and input. You can find this option in the middle of the Settings page.
   • On a Samsung Galaxy, scroll down and tap General management before you press Language and input ticks.
2. Tap on Current keyboard. This is in the "Keyboard and Input Methods" section of the page. A pop-up window will appear.
   • On a Samsung Galaxy, tap first On-screen keyboard then tap Manage keyboards.
3. Tap on SELECT KEYBOARDS. It's at the bottom of the popup window.
   • Skip this step on a Samsung Galaxy.
4. Enable both the Bitmoji keyboard and the Gboard keyboard. Tap the gray check box or blank check box to the right of the "Gboard" heading and confirm any on-screen prompts and do the same for the "Bitmoji Keyboard" heading.
5. Set Gboard as your Android's default keyboard. You can do this from the Gboard app. After enabling Gboard and Bitmoji, press the "Start" button and do the following:
   • Open the Gboard app.
   • Tap on SELECT INPUT METHOD.
   • Tap on Gboard.
   • Tap on SET PERMISSIONS.
   • Tap on TO ALLOW with every request.
   • Tap on READY.
6. Restart your Android. Press and hold the power button until a pop-up menu appears, then tap twice Restart to reboot your Android.

Part 3 of 3: Using Bitmoji in a message

1. Open a Bitmoji-supported app. Common apps that support Bitmoji are Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts, Android Messages, WhatsApp and Twitter.
2. Tap a text field. Find a text field in your app and tap it. In most messaging apps, this text field is at the bottom of a conversation page.
   • Make sure not to tap a search bar.
3. Tap on Tap on Tap the search bar and enter a keyword to search for a Bitmoji. Tap the search bar that says "Search Bitmoji" and enter a search term to find the type of Bitmoji you want to send.
   • For example, if you want to send a cute Bitmoji image to someone you like, you can type "love" in the search bar to see all images related to love.
4. Tap a Bitmoji image to select it. This will insert it into the text field of your message.
   • Most apps also let you type an additional message to go along with the Bitmoji image.
5. Tap on , , or Place. In most chat apps, this is the paper airplane icon in the bottom right corner of the message. This will send the message with your Bitmoji image. If you post to a social media app, it will say "Post" instead.
   • This button and its location may vary depending on the app you are using.

Tips

• Despite the warning you may encounter when installing Gboard, this keyboard does not save your credit card information or passwords.

Warnings

• Bitmoji does not work with every service. If you find yourself unable to use Bitmoji while using a social or email service, most likely the service does not support Bitmoji.
