If you lost your iPod, you may still be in luck. With "Find My iPod" enabled, you can track your lost iPod. You can even lock it or remotely wipe it if you think it has been stolen. If you haven't turned on Find My iPod, you will need to follow other steps and find it yourself.

Part 1 of 2: Using "Find My iPod"

1. Understand the requirements. You can use Apple's location detection service “Find My iPod” on the iPod Touch 3rd generation and newer. In addition, you must have iOS 5 or newer. Find My iPod does not work on iPod Shuffle, Nano, or Classic.
   • Find My iPod must be turned on for it to work. When you update to iOS 8, this feature is turned on by default.
   • To manually turn on Find My iPod, open the Settings app, tap iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID, then tap "Find My iPod". You must have Find My iPod turned on before you lost your device.
   • There are also other apps that can track your lost iPod, but like Find My iPod, they all require you to install the app before you lose the iPod.
2. Open the "Find My iPod" app on another computer or iOS device. you can track your lost iPod using the Find My iPod website or iOS app.
   • Visit icloud.com/#find on any computer to open Find My iPod.
   • Download and install the Find My iPod app on your or a friend's iOS device. If you're using a friend's iOS device, you can sign in as a guest with your Apple ID. You can download the app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
3. Log in with your Apple ID. Whether you're using the website or the app, you'll be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID in both cases. Make sure to sign in with the same ID associated with the missing iPod.
4. Wait for your iPod to appear. Your iPod Touch will appear on the map based on the location reported by the WiFi adapter. If your iPod isn't connected to a network or turned off, you can't track it, but you can lock it.
5. Select your iPod. Click the "My Devices" menu and select your iPod from the list. If your iPod is online, the map will be centered on the current location. When this feature is turned off, the map shows the last known location.
6. Let the iPod play a sound. Click the "Play Sound" option to have the iPod play a sound, this is possible even when your iPod is muted. This can help you find your iPod when it is turned off.
7. Enable "Lost Mode". If your iPod is lost and you can't get it back, you can turn on lost mode. This will lock the device with a new passcode and allow you to display a custom message on the screen. Lost Mode requires iOS 6 or later.
   • You can enable Lost Mode on an iPod that is not powered on, it will automatically enter lockout mode when the iPod connects to a network.
8. Delete your iPod if you think it is lost or stolen. If you are sure you will not get your iPod back, you can remotely erase it by clicking "Erase iPod". This will delete and lock all data on the iPod.
   • Like Lost Mode, you can enable it when the iPod is offline and it will be automatically erased when it is turned back on.

Part 2 of 2: Without "Find My iPod"

1. Change your Apple ID password. If you think your iPod Touch may be lost or stolen and you don't have Find My iPod turned on, you should immediately change your Apple ID password. This protects the data in your iCloud account and Apple Pay.
   • You can change your Apple ID password at appleid.apple.com/.
2. Change your other important passwords. In addition to changing your Apple ID password, you will also need to change other passwords for services accessed from iPod. This could be Facebook, Twitter, your bank, email, or anything else you may have signed into from the iPod.
3. Repeat the previous steps. Without Find My iPod enabled, there is no way to track your iPod. To find a lost iPod without Find My iPod, you have to find it the old-fashioned way.
   • Think back to the last place you remember using it and try to track it down there. Make sure to look for places where it could have fallen, such as gaps between sofa cushions or between car seats.
4. Report the iPod stolen. If you are sure that your iPod has been stolen, you can contact your local police to report it as stolen. You will likely need to provide your iPod's serial number, which you can find on the box or on supportprofile.apple.com if you have registered your iPod with your Apple ID.
