Temporary tattoos are popular with people of all ages and are a less risky alternative to real tattoos. They are also great fun at parties. It takes some time to apply a temporary tattoo perfectly. However, with a little patience, you can proudly show off your sticky tattoo or glitter tattoo to anyone.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Apply a sticky tattoo

  1. Choose a tattoo. Some temporary tattoos are individually packaged which is easy. However, if the temporary tattoo you want to apply is on a sheet with multiple tattoos, you will need to take it off. Using sharp scissors, cut around the tattoo until it is completely detached from the skin. Be careful not to cut the tattoo itself.
  2. Hold the cloth or sponge on the tattoo for at least a minute. To get the clearest possible tattoo, you will need to have some patience. Don't even think about removing the cloth or sponge or paper backing from your skin until a minute has passed. Try to move as little as possible while sitting.
  3. Wait for the tattoo to dry. Have patience and wait another ten minutes or so. Resist the temptation to touch your temporary tattoo. It is best to sit fairly still and not over tighten your muscles to avoid wrinkling and smearing of the tattoo.
  4. Smooth the excess glitter off your skin. Once you have peeled the stencil off your skin, you may notice glitter falling off your skin. If so, use a large, soft brush (a blush brush is perfect) to smooth out the loose, excess glitter. This is best done over a pot or trash can so you don't have to pick glitter out of your carpet.

Tips

  • Smaller tattoos are usually easier to apply because you are less likely to damage your tattoo when you peel off the paper.
  • Don't try to pick your tattoo if you want it to stay beautiful.
