Going to a job interview can be nerve-wracking. With these tips you can get into calmer waters.

To step

  1. Arrive in the region half an hour earlier. Find a quiet cafe, relax and don't think about the journey. Iced tea with peppermint is always delicious.
  2. Know their dress code and dress slightly better than the regulations.
  3. Understand their drug and alcohol tests and KNOW that you can legally pass them - if not, don't waste your and their time.
  4. Sometimes it helps to think of yourself as an actor in a play. If you were the director, how would you coach yourself as an actor to play the part better?
  5. Keep your cool. You probably won't get the job if you show the employer how nervous you are. Practicing controlled breathing as a technique will help you stay focused on the conversation and not on your nerves.
  6. Remember that you are genuinely selling yourself and your skills to an employer. Prepare a list in advance of the key skills, themes and strengths you possess that will set you apart from your competitors. Weave these into your answers to questions so that the asker clarifies your strengths. Also have good anecdotal "evidence" of how you have displayed these strengths in previous positions or events in your life.
    • If you make this list and relive / envision your successes a few days before the interview, you will be positive and happy and make a great impression as someone who can get things done and someone to hire the company.
  7. Be hungry and aggressive but not unprofessional, desperate, or pushy.
  8. Show a credible presence of success and achievement; if you can't convince yourself, don't try to convince others. Speak from your heart with realistic self-assessments.
  9. Only answer the questions the interviewers ask you, and do not provide any other information. But don't be curt, show that you can get along well with people by knowing when to speak and when to just chat.
  10. Be polite and do not insult the boss. Knows that he or she may need to talk to more people.
  11. Don't let anything the questioner says offend you.
    • If they don't give you the job, don't give up looking for another job. It is perfectly normal not to get the job when you have not applied for a while and your skills are a bit stuck.
    • Make a list of questions that have been asked and read it before the next interview.
  12. Be direct in everything you say and in your actions.
  13. Try not to confuse the employer. Be careful what you say and realize that your career is on the line!

Tips

  • Have confidence
  • Look up at the questioner
  • Sit upright
  • Think positive.
  • Always write a thank you letter to the person you had the conversation with!
  • Tell an interviewer that you don't normally talk much, but that you should tell them what you know because it is a job interview. This shows that you are a reserved person, but not so much during the conversation.

Warnings

  • Do not bring unnecessary bags and other things.
  • Do not wear expensive jewelry. A neat chain, a ring on each hand and a neat watch is enough for a job interview, it gives a professional and attractive look.
  • Keep an appropriate smile on your face, don't smile unnecessarily.
  • Always take a pen and notepad with you.
