Peeling an orange is not that complicated at all if you know how to do this. Below you can read a few different methods. By the time you finish this article, you'll be an accomplished orange peeler!
To step
Method 1 of 3: With your hands
- Choose a nice orange. A ripe orange is easier to peel. Choose a fruit with a healthy bright orange color, which is firm and heavy to the touch.
- It is better to leave older oranges with wrinkled skin or bruised areas. They are difficult to peel and also not tasty.
- Unripe oranges that can be recognized by their green or light orange color are difficult to peel because the peel is still too tight.
- Enjoy your meal!
Method 2 of 3: With a knife
- Grab a sharp knife. It does not have to be a very large knife, as long as it has a sharp point on it.
- Grab a spoon. With a spoon you go under the peel of the orange. Work around the orange with the spoon to loosen the zest and peel off.
Tips
- If you have become more handy, you can peel the orange in one go. A nice way is to start at the top at the stem and peel down, leaving an inch. You do this a total of four times. Fold the shells back. You will now have a flower with four petals, with a fruit in the center. Just give it a try!
Warnings
- Orange juice is very sticky. Try not to pierce the fruit when you are peeling.
