When you select your profile picture in Windows 10, it will appear on the login screen, in the Start menu, and several other places in Windows. If you don't want a profile picture at all, you'll need to replace it with something else like the default profile icon (a silhouette of a person). Once you've replaced the photo, you can delete your old profile photos. This wikiHow shows you how to reset the profile picture in Windows 10 to the default profile icon and delete your old profile pictures.

Method 1 of 2: Revert to the default profile picture

1. Click on Start Click on your profile icon. It should look like your current user photo and be in the top left corner of the Start menu.
2. Click Change Account Settings.
3. click on Search image. It's under the heading "Create Your Image." You will see the "Open" dialog box.
4. Go to C: ProgramData Microsoft User Account Pictures. Here you will find the default user icons. Here's a quick way to do this:
   • Select this text with your mouse: C: ProgramData Microsoft User Account Pictures.
   • Press Ctrl+C. to copy it to your clipboard.
   • In the address bar at the top of the Open window, click with your mouse on the end of the current path. This highlights the information already in that box.
   • Press Ctrl+V. to paste the copied path.
   • Press ↵ Enter.
5. Select user.png and click on Select image. Each of the files named "user" should be okay. This replaces your profile picture with the default profile.
   • Your old photo will still appear in your account settings. If you want to completely remove it from the computer, continue with this method.
6. Press ⊞ Win+E to open the file explorer. Now you use the file explorer to delete your old photo from the computer.
7. Paste % appdata% Microsoft Windows AccountPictures in the address bar. You do this just like you did when you navigated to the User Account Pictures folder in the Open window.
8. Press ↵ Enter. Now you will see all your user account images.
9. Select the images you want to delete. To select multiple photos, hold Ctrl while you click.
10. Press Del on your keyboard. The selected photos have now been removed from your account.

Method 2 of 2: Delete a profile picture from a Microsoft account

1. Open your Windows settings [[Image:| techicon | x30px]]. You can find this app at the bottom of the Start menu.
   • If your Windows 10 login is connected to your Microsoft account and you don't want your old profile picture to appear anywhere, use this method to remove the picture from your Microsoft account.
2. click on Accounts. It's the icon that looks like a person's silhouette.
3. click on Manage my Microsoft account. It's below your current profile picture.
4. Log in to your Microsoft account. If you are not already signed in to your account, you will be prompted to do so now. Use the same username and password you use to log in to Windows.
5. Click on your profile picture. This is at the top left of the page. A larger version of your photo will appear.
6. click on remove. It's in the bottom right corner of the page. A confirmation message will appear at the bottom.
7. click on Yes to confirm this. The photo is no longer associated with your account.
