Content

Sparkling, creamy, and cold, this cocktail will keep you happy and relaxed. But that's all part of this cocktail's plan. Stun yourself with a few basic ingredients and a tall glass. You can pour this so that the drink is served in nice layers, or simply throw everything in a cocktail shaker.

Ingredients

Makes 1 serving

  • 22 ml tequila
  • 22 ml of vodka
  • 15 ml coffee liqueur (eg Kahlua)
  • 120 ml of milk or light cream
  • 60 ml of cola
  • Ice, crushed or cubed (as much as you want)

To step

  1. Add ice to a Collins glass. There is a lot of liquid in this drink, so you will need a Collins glass or a large highball glass. This size also requires a lot of ice to keep the cocktail cool while you go to work. Add a generous amount of ice.
    • You can put the drink together in a cocktail shaker if you don't mind losing the layering effect.
  2. Pour in the tequila, vodka, and coffee liqueur. Add 22 ml vodka and tequila and 15 ml coffee liqueur. If you want a layering effect, pour the coffee liqueur first. Hold a spoon upside down in the glass as close to the liqueur as you can. Pour the tequila and vodka over the back of the spoon.
    • The smaller cup on a bartender's size tool usually holds 22ml (half a shot), but not always. If you don't have these, use 1½ tablespoons instead.
    • 15 ml is the same as 1 tablespoon. You can also add the coffee liqueur by estimating the amount.
  3. Add the cola. Pour 60 ml of Coca-Cola, Pepsi, or any other cola into the glass. Pour slowly to create a new layer on top without disturbing the clear layer.
  4. Add milk or light cream to the top of the paralyzer. Slowly pour while stirring the top of the drink. This will reduce the chance that the milk will curdle. Cream is less likely to curdle, but it still can if you pour too quickly. You can measure out 120 ml, or simply pour until the Collins glass is full.
    • The milk will run down the cola but can still create a distinct layer when poured slowly.
  5. Serve and enjoy. Put a straw in the glass to stir the drink.

Tips

  • This drink contains approximately 1⅓ standard servings (1⅓ shots) of alcohol.
  • Most bartenders don't garnish this drink, but you can try it with a maraschino cooker.
  • This drink is comparable to a Colorado Bulldog with tequila on the side.

Warnings

  • Drink alcoholic beverages sensibly and in moderation.
  • Adding milk before the last step can cause the milk to curdle. It is possible to let the cola and tequila float over the milk, but only if you pour very slowly. Use cream if you want to try this out to reduce the risk of curdling.
