The Rule of Three, which says that combinations of three elements are easy on the eyes, makes this triangle an intriguing shape to ponder and make yourself. It appears regularly in Escher's art and is also known as the Penrose triangle.

Method 1 of 3: First method

  1. Draw a hexagon. Three sides should be long and three short, with short and long sides alternating. This is easily done by constructing an equilateral triangle and "chopping" the corners.
  2. Place a smaller equilateral triangle in the center of the hexagon.
  3. Draw a line from one corner of the triangle to one corner of the hexagon, as shown in the image above.
  4. Repeat this process for the other two sides.
  5. Ready! Apply shade or color if desired.
