It is exciting to receive an Apple gift card. Apple Store gift cards can be used to purchase laptops, desktops, iPads and other hardware and accessories from Apple. Apple Music Membership and iTunes gift cards can be used to purchase subscriptions, music and other products from the iTunes, App Music and iBooks stores. You can check your balance on your smartphone or laptop or by visiting an Apple sales center.

Method 1 of 2: Check the balance of your Apple Store gift card

1. Check your balance online. If you live in the United States, it is possible to check your balance online. Go to Apple's website and sign in to your account. Click on "check the balance of a gift card". Then enter the PIN code on the back of the gift card. You will now see the balance of your account.
   • If you want to check your balance from Canada, you are forced to do so from your phone or in person. There is no way to check your balance online.
2. Call 1-888-320-3301 (US). Once in the automated phone system, you can say "check my Apple store gift card balance." The system should then put you through to the gift card department. Select your language and then choose a language for the balance of your gift card. The system will ask you to enter your pin which is on the back of your gift card followed by the pound sign. You will then be informed of your balance.
3. Go to a store that sells Apple. If you live somewhere with a store that sells Apple, you can simply go there with your gift card. Ask an employee to look up the balance of your gift card.

Method 2 of 2: Find your iTunes or Apple Music balance

1. Find the code. Check the back of the gift card to find the removable label. Scratch off the label to find the hidden code. You should now see a 16 digit code.
2. Redeem the gift card on your computer. Open the iTunes application and then click the store button. You can click the Redeem button to the right of the store screen. Then sign in with your Apple ID.
3. Enter the 16-digit code. After entering the code you will see your new iTunes balance. The balance of iTunes will already include the balance of the redeemed gift card.
   • By "redeeming" your iTunes gift card, you simply add it to your account. You don't actually use the sum, but you add it to your account to view the balance.
   • If you already had a balance in your account, you will have to deduct the amount of your previous balance from the new balance after redeeming the gift card. The difference between your old and new balance is the amount of your gift card.
   • You can follow the same procedure if you want to check your balance after buying some things.
4. Redeem the gift card on your phone. Tap the iTunes music app on your smartphone. Then open the iTunes store and log in. At the bottom of the screen you have to click on "music". Finally, enter the code of your gift card to see the balance.
   • In some countries you can use your smartphone's camera to redeem the gift card. After clicking on the option to redeem, you must then click on the option "Use camera". Then take a photo of the 16-digit code and the phone will automatically redeem the code.
5. Find the balance on the Mac App Store. On your computer, click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen. Scroll down to "App Store". From the App Store, click on the featured tab. You should now see the "redeem" options to the right of the window. Enter your gift card number to view your account balance.
6. Use the Wallet app on your smartphone. Open the Wallet app and press the plus sign. Select the option "search apps" and then scroll down to redeem. At the bottom you will see the option for an iTunes pass. Click on "get started" and then click on the option to add the iTunes pass to your wallet. Once you've added the iTunes gift card to your wallet, all you have to do is open your iTunes and check your balance in the top right corner.
