Telemarketers, political parties, and other unwelcome phone callers can be very disruptive due to their ill-timed calls. If you want to get rid of these calls, there are several ways to set up your phone that will allow you to reject an incoming call. Your options depend on your handset, network provider and application preferences. You can block a number on your mobile using one of the following methods.

Method 1 of 4: Settings of your mobile

1. Check the settings of your phone to see if there is a possibility to block incoming calls. Many Nokia and Samsung phones have built-in number blocking options.
2. Write down the number you want to block.
3. Go to Settings.Select "Call Settings" or a similar submenu to see if there is an option to block numbers.
   • Look for "Block List" or "Call Blocking" in the settings. If you can't find it in the settings, then this option probably isn't on your phone.
4. Select "Options" if you found it in the "Block List" settings. See which button you can use to add a new number. Type in the number and save it.
5. It may also be possible to access this menu from the "Recent Calls" screen. Select the number and click "Options." See if there is a choice such as "Add to Block List" or "Block Number."

Method 2 of 4: Network provider options

1. Call your service provider or go to your online account to see if blocking options are available. Different providers have different options.
   • T-Mobile has a free service. Dial 611. Give the operator the number to block and all incoming calls from that number will be blocked.
   • KPN has a limited free service. If you call the customer service number, you can block up to 5 numbers for 3 months at a time. If you are receiving plenty of calls from this number, they should stop after 3 months of not receiving an answer from your phone.
2. Maybe it is possible to take out a subscription. You may only need to take advantage of this for a few months to make sure the calls are over for good.
3. You need an account number and rights to change your subscription. If the subscription is not in your name, you will have to ask the person whose name it is in to block the number, or that you can be added to the account as a co-subscription holder.

Method 3 of 4: Apps

1. Search your phone's app store or marketplace for free or paid services to help reduce unwanted calls.
   • Download CallFilter, DroidBlock or Automatic Call Blocker from the Android Marketplace, if you have an Android phone. This may not always work, but you can significantly reduce the number of unwanted calls by entering the numbers in the app.
   • Download iBlacklist if you have a jail broken iPhone. Regular iPhones will have to make an appointment with the carrier to block numbers as there is currently no app to do this.

Method 4 of 4: Mute incoming calls

1. See if you can set a silent ringtone for certain numbers on your phone. For example, the iPhone can change a ringtone depending on the number that is calling.
2. Check in the ringtones section whether your phone has a silence option. If not, you will need to download and install a silent ringtone.
   • On an iPhone, you can find and download a silent ringtone from various sites. Put it in the ringtones section of iTunes. Then sync your iTunes account with your phone. You can find the new ringtone in custom ringtones. Activate it for the numbers you want to block, so that when you receive a call, you will no longer be disturbed by it.
