So you want a nose piercing but you can't? There are ways in which your nose piercing may be less noticeable and less visible when your parents are around. The same ways work for people trying to hide a piercing at work.

Method 1 of 3: Using a retainer to hide the piercing

1. Buy a retainer used for nose piercings. These are high-tech plastic pieces specially designed for concealing a nose piercing.
   • Hide the piercing with a skin-colored acrylic retainer. There are small spheres or balls of skin-colored acrylic that you can buy to cover a nose piercing. They are sometimes made of clear plexiglass.
   • You can also cover the piercing with a very small plastic disc that you have colored with skin-colored nail polish. Clear glass and quartz nostril screws are also made to hide nose rings. The acrylic retainers can also be better for people with sensitive skin.
2. Put in the retainer. Nose piercing retainers are designed to hide the nose piercing completely. It can look like a birthmark or pimple. However, some may be invisible and that is of course the intention.
   • You insert the end with the ball straight into the piercing, so that the clear ball remains on the outside of the piercing. The transparent bulb looks like a small bump on your skin.
   • Some of these retainers are very comfortable. They are also small, so you may have to buy several. If you lose one, you will have another one up your sleeve.
   • You can also find retainers that work for curved nose studs or nose screws. Some retainers have a decorative end that you can use when you're not camouflaging the piercing.
3. Put the piercing in the nose. Wet the piercing with a little water. Put your hands into the piercing and push it up.
   • Do this for a horseshoe-shaped piercing that you are already wearing through the nose insert. Don't do this with a piercing you just got, because it needs to heal.
   • Of course you don't do this pushing with a nose ring, but it does work to hide the ring in the nose insert.

Method 2 of 3: Hide your nose piercing with makeup or band-aids

1. Apply your normal foundation. You should also put powder on your face. Use a highly concentrated concealer with a concealer brush.
   • Smooth the concealer over the piercing. Apply the product to the area. Choose a color that is close to your skin color.
   • Use a sponge to wipe the makeup on the area so that it looks natural.
2. Use blister plasters. Use the outside of the patch. Cut it into a small strip with scissors. Hold the small strip on your face over the nose ring.
   • Then you hold it with tweezers when you put it back on and you cut around it so that it covers the nose ring. Cut the edges so that it almost looks like a circle.
   • Then take a plaster spray and put two coats on the small piece. You can buy these at many drug stores. It smells a bit like nail polish. Apply it to the small band-aid that is on the piercing. Apply two or three coats and let it dry.
   • Complete the process by applying foundation to the piercing with a makeup sponge.
3. Be careful not to injure yourself. Nose piercings may take longer to heal than ear piercing. That's because the ears are made of softer tissue than the nose.
   • Don't use a button or ring that is too big for your nose or you could develop scar tissue. Leave the piercing alone. Don't pull it, as you can also cause scar tissue.
   • You can also wear the retainer while the nose is healing. Make sure to use sterile products that keep the piercing clean when changing nose piercings.

Method 3 of 3: Choosing a fake nose ring

1. Buy a fake nose ring. If you're worried about getting in trouble because you have a nose ring or your parents forbid you from getting one, why not try a fake one?
   • Getting a piercing is a serious decision. With a fake piercing you can try out how it looks on you without regrets.
   • Nose piercings hurt. Why go through the pain when you can pretend and still look like you have one? Try a magnetic or a hopper ring. They look real, but they don't need a hole. Another advantage is that you do not run the risk of a scar.
2. Choose the kind of fake nose ring. You have a lot of choice in fake nose rings, so try out how it looks and feels.
   • Some fake nose rings are actually clips that use magnets on the inside of the nose. The nose ring itself is a small button or bone that is attracted to the magnet.
   • Fake hoop rings work differently. They have a small spring that looks like a disk. The spring clamps the nose ring to the nose. These fake nose rings look like real to most people.
3. Buy clear nose rings. You can buy these at a regular jewelry store. Take a flat iron and melt the small ball at the end so that it flattens out and lies against your skin.
   • Take off your regular nose ring. Use petroleum jelly. The transparent nose ring will then enter your nose more easily. Put it in where you have your nose piercing.
   • Put some petroleum jelly on the nose ring. Stick it up your nose. Wipe off the unnecessary petroleum jelly.

Tips

• Take care of your piercing so it doesn't get infected or your parents will find out for sure.
• Act normally or your parents will find out.
• Do not touch the piercing in front of your parents. This draws attention to it.
• Choose a smaller piercing or one closer to your skin tone.
• A retainer with a small, flat button may be better for hiding the piercing.
• Consider telling your parents. Maybe they understand! Lying is never good.

Warnings

• You may need to keep your piercing in for 2-4 weeks if you just got it. It is a good idea to withhold the original during that healing period.
