Is there a website that you visit so often that you want to create a shortcut for it? While this was tricky in previous versions of Internet Explorer, it has become a lot easier in Internet Explorer 9. This article will explain this procedure to you.

To step

1. Open your Internet Explorer 9 browser.
2. Go to the page you want to create a shortcut on your Desktop.

Method 1 of 3: Directly from Internet Explorer 9 (right-click)

1. Right-click on an empty spot (no text or images) on the page.
2. Click on the "Create Shortcut" option.
3. Look at the dialog box. Make sure this is really the page you want to create a shortcut for on your Desktop.
4. Click on "Yes" to confirm the selection.

Method 2 of 3: Directly from Internet Explorer 9 (by dragging and dropping)

1. Open the website you want to create a shortcut for in Internet Explorer 9.
2. Make the window smaller than the maximum size so that you have a place where you can easily drag an icon.
3. Look for the icon on the left side of the address bar (the URL).
4. Drag this icon to your Desktop.
5. Release the mouse button.

Method 3 of 3: From the Windows Desktop

1. Open your Windows Desktop.
2. Right click on your Desktop.
3. Click on the "New" option.
4. Click on the underlying "Shortcut" option.
5. Click on the field that says "Specify the location of the item ..." and start typing the full address (ie http: //).
6. Click on "Next".
7. Type a title for this website, or stick to the default name "New Internet Shortcut". It is best if you choose the title as directed by the browser or something somewhat similar.
8. Click on the "Finish" button.

Tips

• With the other steps, you will need to know the exact page you want to create a shortcut for in order to be able to type in the page that the shortcut points to; then type it out completely to create the shortcut. The first part, however, requires a little less text and ensures that the required data for your shortcut has already been created. You can always make the title at a time.
