There are many different well-known household products you can use to make a candle mold. This is a very inexpensive way to make candles.

To step

1. Keep thick cardboard packs. Suitable cardboard packaging includes Pringles tubes, Chinese take-out food containers and milk cartons with a protective liner on the inside. Make sure the cardboard is covered with wax or has some other protective coating. Plain cardboard will absorb the molten casting wax. This can cause a fire and make a mess.
2. Wipe the inside of the package with a damp paper towel to remove food residues.
3. Fasten the wick in the middle of the package. You can use a piece of tape for this. Another good way to tie the wick is to melt a hole for it when the candle is ready and put the wick in it.
4. Place a pencil or similar object over the top edge of the package and tape the wick to it. Make sure the wick is in the middle of the package.
5. Pour some melted casting wax into the package. Wait a few seconds to make sure that the packaging is not leaking.
6. Pour the casting wax into the package. Make sure the casting wax reaches almost to the top edge. Leave some casting wax to touch up the candle, as the casting wax shrinks in the center when it cools.
7. Wait a few hours to overnight for the casting wax to cool and harden.
8. Let the candle cool down. When the candle has cooled down, remove the wrapping around it.
9. Ready.

Tips

• You can also use a muffin tin as a tin. When the casting wax has hardened and cooled, turn the can upside down and hit it on the counter to take out the cute little candles.
• You can also use old unused tea cups as molds.
• Silicone cake molds are very suitable, because they do not stick. Use molds with fun shapes to make interesting candles with unusual effects.
• You can also use cardboard juice boxes, oatmeal boxes, and cardboard egg boxes as a candle shape. Just make sure you don't use Styrofoam egg cartons. You can make a long candle with a larger tomato can. You can use baking spray to take the candles out of the molds if you don't want to spend extra money on a special spray to dislodge the candles.
• It is possible to melt wax crayons and use them in the same way as candle casting wax. You can also use wax from old candles.

Warnings

• Your wick can get clogged if you use crayons to color your candle. As a result, your candle may not burn properly and may even cause a fire. There are many good websites where you can buy candle casting wax as well as candle dyes and other additives that you can add to make beautiful and safe candles.
• Put enough newspaper under the candle mold in case your casting wax spills. Be careful because melted casting wax can burn your skin.
• Paraffin, soy and other types of casting wax are highly flammable. Melt the casting wax never over a fire or heat source. Always use a hot water bath. If you have nothing else, you can put a coffee can in a pan of water and heat the casting wax on the stove. However, it is a lot safer to use a double boiler or a smaller pan with handles placed in a large pot of water.
