Chevron bracelets are very popular, especially as friendship bracelets. Giving your friends chevron bracelets is a fun way to let them know you care, but of course you can wear them yourself! Here are a few different methods of making chevron friendship bracelets.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Make a chevron friendship bracelet

  1. Prepare the embroidery floss. Cut the embroidery floss or craft floss about 150–165 cm for each color, depending on the size of your wrist. You need at least six strands (two strands of three colors), but you can use any even number of strands.
    • The more strands you use, the more complex your color combinations will be and the wider your bracelet will be.
    • Use the colors you want; Just make sure you have two strands of any color you choose.
  2. Secure the strands. Tie a knot at the end of the strands and tie them so that they stay in place more easily while making the bracelet.
    • You can attach them to a clipboard, with a safety pin to your pants or a pillow, or tape them to your work surface with masking tape. You can also use a clip with a binder or book. Alternatively, you can simply tie them to the handle of a drawer.
  3. Arrange the strands. With the help of the thread, make a mirror image pattern so that the two outer strands are the same color and continue in this way.
    • Pretend there is an imaginary line in the center and create the same color pattern with the strands on either side of the line.
  4. Finish the bracelet. Tie a knot at the end of the pattern and use the excess thread to tie the bracelet around a friend's wrist.
    • Alternatively, you can make a knot loop to close the bracelet. Tie a knot on one side by pulling two strands through the holes in the knot. Next, tie the strands together and trim the excess strands (even the ones you don't use for the knot). At the other end of the bracelet there should already be a loop between the knot at the end and where the knots start. Once you are done with all the steps, pull the knot through the loop.

Method 2 of 2: Make a double chevron friendship bracelet

  1. Prepare the embroidery floss. For this bracelet you need four different colors of thread. Cut two strands of each color, each measuring approximately 165 cm. This will give you eight strands.
    • Once you've cut all of the wire, fold the bundle of strands in half and cut in the middle. This will give you 16 strands in total.
  2. Secure the strands. Tie a knot in one end of the wire and secure them on a flat surface that you can work on with heavy duty tape (such as masking tape or duct tape).
    • Alternatively, you can attach them to your pants with a safety pin, tie them to a dresser drawer, or clip them to a clipboard.
  3. Arrange the strands. Using the thread, create a mirror image pattern that repeats twice, so that there are two exact replicas of the same pattern right next to each other.
    • For example, your pattern might look like this: 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1
    • Pretend there is an imaginary line in the center, and create the same color pattern with the thread on both sides of the line. Repeat this pattern again.
  4. Finish the bracelet. Tie a knot at the end of the pattern and use the excess thread to tie the bracelet around your own or a friend's wrist.
Once you're done with all the steps, pull the knot through the loop.

Tips

  • Tie them very tightly with double knots to prevent them from loosening.
  • When your bracelet starts spinning, you can iron it.
  • You can buy embroidery floss from fabric or craft stores.
  • Use appropriate color combinations for different occasions, such as pink, red and white for Valentine's Day, or red and green for Christmas.
  • Fan the wires the same way every time.
  • Make friendship bracelets for friends as a Christmas gift.
  • If you cut any excess thread while making the button-loop fastener, you can glue the stubs to prevent knots from loosening.
