Do you have a blog on Tumblr that you no longer use? Perhaps you are ashamed of the content and wish it disappeared from the face of the earth? Although it is not easy to find, it is possible to delete your primary blog or a secondary blog. You can even delete your entire Tumblr account if you wish. Read here how to do that.

To step

  1. Log in to Tumblr.
  2. Open the account settings. You can get here by clicking on the gear icon at the top of the page.
  3. Select the blog you want to delete. On the left side of the page you will see the list of all your blogs. When deleting a secondary blog, remember that it cannot be deleted while members are still active. If you delete your primary blog, your entire Tumblr account will be deleted.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Here you will see either the button "Delete this blog" (secondary blog) or "Delete account" (primary blog). Click the button to proceed with the removal.
    • If you delete a secondary blog you will leave it first. If there are other active members, it will not be removed, but will be disconnected from your account.
    • If you delete a primary blog, and therefore your account, you will be asked to provide your Tumblr web address, email address, and password. Any purchased themes will also be removed. You may want to contact Tumblr to have the themes transferred to another blog.
    • Your unused Tumblr Credits will also be removed.

Tips

  • If you just want no one else to see your blog, you can secure the blog with a password, you don't have to delete it (note: this is only possible with secondary blogs).
  • If Google Reader has indexed your blog's entries, it is a good idea to edit all entries by clearing them. Otherwise, anyone who subscribes to the RSS feed can still read your blog.
