This wikiHow shows you how to download a YouTube playlist for offline viewing on an Android phone or tablet.

Method 1 of 2: Using the YouTube app

  1. Open YouTube on your Android. It's the red square with a white play button in it. You usually find it in the app drawer.
  2. Find a playlist to download. You can search for a playlist by tapping the magnifying glass icon. To find a playlist you have created, tap Library and scroll down to the Playlists section.
  3. Tap the playlist.
  4. Tap the download button. It's the round icon with a downward pointing arrow in it.
  5. Select the video quality. This determines the picture and sound quality of the videos in the playlist. Choose Low, Average or HD.
  6. Tap on OK.
  7. Tap on OK to confirm. The playlist is now available offline.

Method 2 of 2: Using Videoder

  1. Go to https://videoder.net in a web browser. Videoder is an app that allows you to download the videos in a YouTube playlist in any format, including MP3s and other music files.
    • You must install this app through your web browser as it is not available through the Play Store. This process involves giving your Android permission to install apps from unverified sources.
  2. Tap on Download the app. This is stated on the homepage of Videoder. A warning message will appear.
  3. Tap on OK to confirm. The file will be downloaded to your Android.
  4. Open the file you just downloaded. It is called Videoder_v14.apkalthough the version number will vary. You can find it in the Downloads folder, which you can access by tapping Downloads in the app drawer.
    • If you don't have a Downloads app, open your file manager app (usually called File Browser, File manager, or My files), navigate to the folder Downloads, and tap Videoder_v14.apk.
  5. Select Package installation on the "Complete action with" screen.
  6. Tap on One-off. If this is your first time installing an app that is not from the Play Store, a warning message will appear.
  7. Have apps installed from unknown sources. If you see an installation option, go to the next step. If you see a warning saying "Installation Blocked", do the following:
    • Tap on Settings to access security settings.
    • Check the box next to "Unknown sources". A confirmation message will be displayed.
    • Tap on OK.
    • Return to the Downloads folder and tap again Videoder_v14.apk.
  8. Tap on to install. The app will now be installed on your Android.
  9. Tap on To open. This is at the bottom of the confirmation screen. Videoder opens for the first time.
  10. Search for (or enter the URL to) a YouTube playlist. You can use the search bar at the top of the screen to perform any of these functions.
  11. Tap the playlist you want to download. This will open the contents of the playlist.
  12. Tap the download button. It's a circle with a downward pointing arrow in it. A list of download options will appear.
  13. Select a format for the files. Tap the drop-down menu next to "Format / Resolution" to choose the type of files you want to download. The default value is M4A.
  14. Tap on TO DOWNLOAD. The files in the playlist are downloaded to the Videoder file on your Android.
