Have you bought a brand new Wii or Wii Mini and can't wait to play with it? You can connect your Wii to your television very quickly and play games in just a few minutes! See Step 1 below to get started.

1. First check which connections your television supports. Almost all televisions support RCA connectors (three-piece). They are usually colored red, white and yellow. Modern televisions usually also support component connections (five-way). These are colored red, white, yellow and green.
2. Check which cable your Wii has. Wiis come with an RCA cable. If your television supports component cables, this will provide a clearer picture and enable widescreen.
3. Connect your Wii to your television. Connect the video cable to the back of the Wii, making sure to plug the colored pins of the cable into the correct ports on the television. Write down which input you connect to.
4. Connect the sensor bar to the back of the Wii with the supplied cable. Place the sensor bar above or below your television, preferably as much as possible in the middle. The sensor bar allows the Wii to detect the Wii Remote when it is pointed at the screen.
5. Connect the power cable to the back of the Wii and then to a wall outlet or power strip.
6. Turn on the Wii and turn on your television. On the television you have to switch to the input to which you have connected the Wii. You should now see the Wii boot screen. If this is not the case, check whether you have connected the cables to the correct ports on your television.
7. Adjust the display settings. This step is for users who use component cables. Use your Wii Remote to open the Wii Menu. Choose Wii Settings to open the list of settings. Select Screen and then TV resolution. Choose EDTV or HDTV (480p) and click Confirm.
   • If you have a widescreen television, choose Widescreen Settings from the Screen menu. Select Widescreen (16: 9) and click Confirm.
8. Connect your Wii to the internet. To get the most out of your Wii, you need to connect it to the internet. This gives you the option to download games from the eShop, watch movies on Netflix (with a subscription), and play online games. This article shows you how to connect.
