With Facebook you can easily make contact with your friends, for example by sharing photos. But you will also see that you will also come into contact with people you have not seen for a long time. Before you know it you will have hundreds of friends. To create a Facebook profile, just follow the simple steps in this article.

Method 1 of 1: Create your own Facebook profile
Create an account with Facebook. On the homepage of Facebook it says very big: "Register". Below that you can immediately start creating an account. Enter your first and last name and enter a valid email address in the next box. Confirm this e-mail address so that you are sure that you have not made any spelling mistakes. Facebook needs your email address because an email will be sent with an activation link. In addition, Facebook sends you notifications about updates and birthdays by e-mail. You then enter a password, your date of birth and your gender. Read the conditions carefully and click on "Register". 
Activate your account. Facebook will now send you an email with an activation link. Click on the link in the email to activate your account. You will be automatically redirected to your new Facebook profile. 
Find friends. Here are a number of steps to set up your profile. First, Facebook suggests searching your email account to see if email addresses in your inbox are associated with existing Facebook accounts. This way you can easily add friends and acquaintances as a friend on Facebook. Enter your e-mail address and password, Facebook will immediately start searching. Select the people you want to add as a friend by checking the boxes next to their photos and clicking "Add Friend". After this you have the option to invite people from your address book who do not yet have a Facebook account. Click on "Save and Continue". - In the next step you can specify your high school, your university, your employer, your current residence and place of residence. Click "Save and Continue", now Facebook will give you a new list of suggestions for potential friends. Click on "Add friend" next to the person you want to add as a friend. Click on "Save and Continue".
Add a profile picture. The last step is to add a photo of yourself. You can take a photo with your webcam or you can upload an existing photo from your hard drive. This will be the photo your friends on Facebook will see next to all of your posts and comments. Note: the photo you choose is public, everyone who comes to your page will be able to see this photo, even if you have further protected your page. 
Take a tour. After you have uploaded a profile picture, you will immediately be taken to your new Facebook page. At the top of the page you will see "Welcome to your profile". If you want some more information about how everything works, you can click on the button "Start tour". Below that you can continue setting up your profile. For example, it is nice to add a "cover photo", that is the large image at the top of your page. Click on "Add cover photo", you can now upload a photo or choose from existing photos. You can then adjust the position of the photo by picking up the photo and dragging it to the desired position.
Tips
- It is advisable to immediately adjust your privacy settings. Click on the gear icon at the top right of the page and select "Privacy Settings".
Warnings
- Don't add people as friends you don't know, especially if you're under 18.
- Don't use Facebook to bully others. You have no idea what impact your harassment has on your victims.
- Never put your phone number or address on Facebook, even with the highest privacy settings. Your account can always be hacked.
- Never complain about your job, your employer or your colleagues on Facebook. Your network is bigger than you think, it can have unpleasant consequences.
- You cannot create a profile if you are not yet 13.
- Think about what you post on Facebook. For example, not everyone is served by perverse jokes.
- Set your profile so that only friends can see it. If you make your profile public you can attract potentially dangerous types.
