This wikiHow teaches you how to connect your Amazon Fire Stick to Wi-Fi. Once connected to your home Wi-Fi network, you can use the Amazon Fire Stick to stream videos, TV shows, movies and music to your TV with your Amazon account.

To step

  1. Connect the Amazon Fire Stick to your TV. You can connect the Amazon Fire Stick directly to the HDMI port on the back of your TV. Turn on your TV and make sure the correct source input is selected.
  2. Connect the Fire Stick to power. Make sure the Fire Stick's micro USB power cable is plugged into the Fire Stick and the other end of the USB cable is plugged into the supplied power adapter and plugged into an electrical outlet. If your TV has an open USB port, you can connect the cable directly to the TV instead of using the included adapter.
    • Use the included adapter and plug the Fire Stick directly into a wall outlet if you see a message that the Fire Stick has insufficient power.
  3. Select Settings. Use the directional buttons on the remote to go all the way to the Home screen, then select "Settings" to the right of the options at the top of the screen.
    • Press the Home button on the remote to go to the start menu if you're not there already. It's the button with the outline of a house on it.
  4. Select Network. It's the second option in the menu with the three curved lines icon resembling a Wi-Fi signal. Use the directional buttons on the remote to move down and right to select the "Network" option, then press the Select button in the center of the remote. The Fire Stick will automatically start searching for nearby networks.
  5. Select your preferred network. Once you see your home network name in the list of networks, use the directional buttons on the remote to highlight it in yellow, then press the Select button in the center of the remote to select it.
    • If you don't see your preferred network, select "Rescan" at the bottom of the list.
    • If your preferred network is hidden, select "Connect to other network" at the bottom of the list and manually enter the name of the network you want to connect to.
  6. Enter the WiFi network password. If your network has a password, use the remote to navigate the on-screen keyboard and enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
    • If your home network is not password protected, it will automatically try to connect.
  7. Select To connect. This is at the top right of the keyboard. The Fire Stick will then connect to your home WiFi network. Once the Fire Stick is connected, it will say "Connected" below the network name in the list of nearby networks.
    • You can press the home button on the remote to return to the Fire Stick home screen.
