In this article, you'll learn how to set how long a photo you've sent with Snapchat can be viewed before it disappears.

To step

1. Open Snapchat. That's an app with a yellow logo with a ghost in it.
   • Enter your username and password if you are not automatically logged in.
2. Take a picture. Tap the large, open circle at the bottom of your screen to do that.
   • How long your photo or video will be depends on how long you hold down the button. Videos on Snapchat can be up to 10 seconds long.
3. Tap the "Timer" icon. It's on the right side of your screen.
4. Select the term. Scroll through the numbers from 1 to 10.
   • The duration you choose determines how long your photo will be on the screen of the recipient or the followers of your "Story".
5. Tap anywhere on your photo. The selected run time will appear in the center of the "Timer" icon.
   • Tap an icon on the right to add text, images or other things to your photo.
6. Tap the "Send To" button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Now the photo is the number of seconds you just set on the timer by seeing your friends or in your "Story".
   • A Snap, photo or short movie you just took can be sent to friends and will disappear after it is opened or be added to your "Story".
   • Your "Story" is a collection of Snaps you have created and added to your "Story" in the past 24 hours.
   • Snaps added to your "Story" disappear after 24 hours.
