You can set an image as the background of your YouTube channel with the YouTube app or on the website. To do this you need to log in to your account, open the menu to edit your channel, and select a photo to upload. This process is much the same on a mobile device as it is on a desktop computer, but the website's interface has a few extra options for selecting your image. Use your background photo to express yourself and to give your channel some extra radiance.

Method 1 of 2: In the YouTube app

1. Download and open the YouTube app. Search for "YouTube" in the App Store or Play Store and tap to install. Tap on To open when the app is installed.
2. Enter your email address and password, then tap Sign Up. If you don't have an account yet, you can tap Register to create one.
3. Tap the people icon to open your account. This button can be found on the right side of the top menu bar. You will now open a list of options for your account, and your username will appear below the menu bar.
4. Tap your photo to open your channel's main page.
5. Tap the gear icon to view your channel's settings. This button is located to the right of your username, and allows you to edit your channel.
6. Tap the camera icon on your channel's cover photo and select Choose from your photos. The icon can be found on the right of the cover photo. With Choose from your photos you will be sent to your photo gallery.
   • You may need to give the app access to your images first.
   • There is another camera icon in the center of the screen. Tap this to change your user image.
   • Unfortunately, you cannot use your phone's camera when setting a background photo on YouTube. If you still want to take a photo, do this before adjusting the background photo in the app.
7. Select an image from your gallery by tapping on it. You will now see a screen where you can select a part of the image to put on your channel.
   • You can always tap the left arrow in the top left corner to adjust your selection.
   • YouTube has a minimum resolution of 2048 × 1152 for background photos, and a maximum file size of 4 MB. You will be notified if your chosen image is too small or too large.
8. Tap and drag to adjust the area of ​​your image. The area within the box is the part of the image that will be used for your channel.
   • Use two fingers to zoom in or out while editing.
9. Tap on Save. Your image will now be uploaded and your background will be adjusted immediately.

Method 2 of 2: On YouTube.com

1. Go to YouTube.com and log in to your account. Enter your account information and click Sign Up. If you don't have an account yet, you can click Register to create one.
2. Find the settings menu in the top left corner. This button looks like three horizontal stripes (☰).
3. click on My channel. This button can be found under Home and takes you to your YouTube channel.
4. click on Add banner image. This button is in the center of your cover photo and opens a screen to upload an image.
   • If you already have a cover photo that you want to change, click the button edit (the pencil icon) in the top right corner of the image.
5. Drag an image to the upload screen. The image will be uploaded immediately and you will be shown a preview of how the image will look on different devices.
   • You can also click Select a photo from your computer to search for a photo yourself.
   • YouTube has a minimum resolution of 2048 × 1152 for background photos, and a maximum file size of 4 MB. You will be notified if your chosen image is too small or too large.
   • You can always click on Cancel in the bottom menu bar if you want to upload a different image.
   • Photos you upload are stored on your channel and can be found under the tab Your pictures.
6. Alternatively, click Gallery to select a default image from YouTube. This button can be found in the upload screen. Here you can choose from a number of standard images that you can use for free.
7. click on Crop. This button can be found in the lower left corner of the upload screen. This allows you to crop the background photo by dragging the edges of the frame.
   • With the button Devices preview you go back to the upload screen.
8. Select the check box Automatically improve (optional). This option is to the right of the bottom menu bar, and automatically adjusts the color balance and brightness of your photo. You can uncheck the box to revert the changes.
9. click on Selecting. This blue button is in the bottom left corner of the window. Your image will now be saved in Your pictures and set as the new wallpaper for your channel.

Tips

• Although your photo may vary a bit, the recommended resolution for background photos is 2048 × 1440 pixels.
