This wikiHow shows you how to get started with the Square company's Cash App on your Android phone or tablet.

To step

Method 1 of 5: Create an account

  1. Open the Cash App app on your Android. This is a green icon with a white dollar sign in it. If you've already installed it, you'll usually find it in the app drawer. This is how you can download the app if you haven't already:
    • Open the Play StoreEnter your email address or phone number and tap Next one. Cash App will send you a confirmation code via email or text message, depending on the information you have entered. It may take a few minutes to receive the code.
      • If you don't receive the code, tap Help in the lower left corner of the screen and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • Enter the confirmation code and tap Next one.
    • Select how you will use Cash App. If you are going to sell goods and services, choose For Business. If you are simply using Cash App to send and receive money from friends and family (or to purchase goods and services from others), select In person.
      • You will not be charged for sending or receiving money with a personal account unless you send payments with a credit card.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to link your bank account. Cash App needs access to your bank account so you can send and receive money. The following screens will guide you through that process.
      • You must provide both the account number and the SWIFT code for your checking account.

Method 2 of 5: Claim or change your Cashtag

  1. Open Cash App on your Android. This is the green icon with a white dollar sign in it. You usually find it in the app drawer.
    • A Cashtag is a username that other people can use to send you money. If you haven't set up a Cashtag yet, other people can still send you money by entering the phone number or email address associated with your Cash App account.
    • You can only change your Cashtag twice after you have created it.
  2. Tap the icon at the top left of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap Choose your unique Cash name. If you already have a Cashtag, tap it.
  4. Type the Cashtag you want to use. Cash tags must consist of at least one letter, but no more than 20, and cannot contain any symbols.
  5. Tap on Set up.
  6. Slide the ″ Cash.me ″ switch to the On position. You can now receive money that will be sent to this Cashtag.

Method 3 of 5: Send money

  1. Open Cash App on your Android. This is the green icon with a white dollar sign in it. You will usually find it on your home screen or in the app drawer. Your current balance appears on the screen.
    • If you send more than € 250 in a week, Cash App will verify your Social Security number, date of birth and name to increase your spending limit.
  2. Enter the amount you want to send. The minimum is € 1.
  3. Tap on Pay.
  4. Enter the recipient. Everyone on Cash App has a Cashtag, a username that starts with a dollar sign ($). Enter the person's Cashtag, or the phone number associated with the person.
    • If you accidentally sent money to a phone number that is not linked to a Cash App account, you can cancel the payment. To do this, tap the clock icon in the top right corner of the Cash App home screen, select payment, then tap Cancel payment.
  5. Type a message (optional). Depending on why you are sending money to this person, it can be helpful to indicate in a few words (or an emoji) what the money is for. Enter this information in the "Before" field.
  6. Tap on Pay. This will deduct the money from your account (or balance, if you had a balance in Cash App) and send it to the recipient.

Method 4 of 5: Send money request

  1. Open Cash App on your Android. This is the green icon with a white dollar sign in it. You will usually find it on your home screen or in the app drawer. Your current balance appears on the screen.
  2. Enter the amount of your request. The minimum is € 1.
  3. Tap on To request.
  4. Enter the phone number or Cashtag of the person who will pay you. Everyone on Cash App has a Cashtag, a username that starts with a dollar sign ($). Enter the person's Cashtag, or the phone number associated with the person's account.
  5. Type a message (optional). Depending on why you are sending the money request, it may be helpful to state in a few words what the transaction is for. Enter this information in the "Before" field.
  6. Tap on To request. It's in the top right corner of the screen. The recipient will be notified that you have sent him or her a money request.

Method 5 of 5: Transfer money to your bank account

  1. Open Cash App on your Android. This is the green icon with a white dollar sign in it. You will usually find it on your home screen or in the app drawer. Your current balance will appear on the screen.
  2. Tap your current balance. This is at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap on Cash out.
  4. Select a deposit rate. If you don't mind paying 1.5% of the total transfer amount, tap Straight away to access the money in your bank account in seconds. Otherwise, tap Standard to choose the free option, which will send the money to your bank the next business day.
    • Standard wire transfers can take a little longer if your bank is closed on weekends or holidays.
