Method 1 of 3: Using Facebook Messenger on a phone or tablet

1. Open Facebook Messenger. Its icon is a blue chat bubble with a white lightning bolt on your home page (iPhone / iPad) or in the apps folder (Android).
2. Select a contact. Tap the name of the person you want to send the file to. This will open a chat with that person.
   • You can view recent contacts by pressing "Start" or you can search for a new contact by pressing "People".
3. Send an image. If you want to send a photo from your camera roll, tap the icon that resembles a mountain with the moon on a square background, then tap a photo to select it.
4. Send a different type of file. Tap the plus ("+") at the bottom of the chat to view all available options, then tap the type of file you want to send. Follow the on-screen instructions to send the file.

Method 2 of 3: Using Messenger.com on a computer

1. Go to www.messenger.com in a browser. You must use a computer to use this method.
2. Log in to Messenger. When prompted, you must enter your username and password to log in.
3. Select a contact. On the left side of the page, click the name of the person you want to send a file to.
4. Click on the File icon. This icon resembles overlapping pieces of paper below the chat box.
5. Select the file you want to send. In the window that opened, you can find the file you want to send and then click it once to select it.
   • To select multiple files at once, press Ctrl (Windows) or ⌘ Command (macOS) while clicking each file.
6. Click on Open. This will send the file to the recipient.

Method 3 of 3: Using Facebook.com on a computer

1. Go to www.facebook.com in a browser.
2. Log in to Facebook. Enter your username and password in the empty fields at the top right of the screen and click "Login".
3. Select a contact in Chat. You can click on the person's name in the panel on the right side of Facebook.
4. Click on a paperclip icon. This is the second icon from the bottom right of the chat box.
5. Select a file. Navigate to the folder containing the file, click it once to select it, then click "Open".
   • To select multiple files at once, press Ctrl (Windows) or ⌘ Command (macOS) while clicking each file.
6. Press ↵ Enter (Windows) or ⏎ Return to send the file. In a few moments, your friend will see that you have sent a file. They can then double-click the name of the file to view it.
