There are thousands of car mods available for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and they can be easily installed with the San Andreas Mod Installer. Once you've downloaded some mod files, you can use the Mod Installer to add them to GTA with just a few clicks. You can then install another mod that allows you to easily select the cars in-game.

To step

Part 1 of 3: Installing your tools

  1. Download the San Andreas Mod Installer (SAMI) installation files. With SAMI you can install almost any mod for GTA San Andreas, including new cars, with just a few mouse clicks.
    • You can download the installer from gtainside.com/en/sanandreas/tools/5604-san-andreas-mod-installer/. Click the download button to download the RAR file containing the installer.
  2. Extract the SAMI RAR file. You will need a program like WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the RAR file you downloaded. 7-Zip is the most popular free option and you can download it from 7-zip.org.
    • After installing 7-Zip, right click on the RAR file and select '7-Zip' → 'Extract Files ...' This will extract the file and place it in a new folder in your current directory .
  3. Install SAMI. Run the San Andreas Mod Installer v1.0.exe file and confirm that you want to run it. You can just use the default settings for the installation. After installation, a shortcut to the San Andreas Mod Installer will have appeared on your desktop.
  4. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework. This is a requirement to run SAMI. You can download the installer from {{{1}}}. Launch the "dotnetfx" program after the download and follow the prompts to install it.

Part 2 of 3: Adding cars

  1. Download the car you want to add to GTA SA. Now that you have the installer for your mods ready, you can download an automod. Automods can be downloaded as Zip or RAR and you don't need to extract these files. There are a number of places you can download car mods from, including:
    • gtainside.com
    • nexusmods.com/gtasanandreas
    • gtaall.com
    • gta-modding.com
  2. Start SAMI. Once you've downloaded one or two car mods, it's time to run SAMI to add them to San Andreas. There is a SAMI shortcut on your desktop.
  3. click on "Install a Mod. This will open a new screen.
  4. Click on "Detect" under the San Andreas Directory field. Your system will be scanned for your GTA SA game directory so you don't have to declare it yourself.
    • If the directory of the game is not found, use the "Browse" button to select the correct file yourself.
  5. Make sure that "ZIP RAR File" is selected. This tells SAMI to load the mod you select directly from the archive file.
  6. Click the "Browse" button in the "Mod Location" section. This will open a file explorer.
  7. Select the ZIP or RAR file of the car mod you downloaded. You will usually be able to find the file in your Downloads folder, although you may have placed it elsewhere.
  8. Click on "Continue" and then again "Continue. You will be shown which lines of code will be changed. You can just skip this.
  9. Name your vehicle. You can use the name of the mod or any other name you think fits the car well.
  10. Select the vehicle that you will replace. Vehicle mods must be assigned to an existing "slot" for a vehicle in the game. Make sure you select the same type of vehicle (for example, you cannot replace a boat with a car).
  11. Click "Install" to install the mod. The mod you install will replace all cars of the same type as the selected vehicle.
  12. Start San Andreas and find your new car. After you have installed your automod it is time to start San Andreas and find the car in your game. The mod replaces all cars of the same type as the original vehicle with the mod, so you can significantly narrow the area you search in if the vehicle can normally only be found in certain places.
    • You can use a "car spawner" mod to instantly generate any vehicle. See the section below for details.

Part 3 of 3: Installing a Vehicle Spawner

  1. Download CLEO for GTA SA. Visit cleo.li/ and download the GTA San Andreas version. If you're adding a lot of different cars to your game, you can make things a little easier by installing a car spawner. This allows you to instantly make any vehicle you want to drive appear.
  2. Run the installer for CLEO. During the installation process of CLEO you will have to indicate where GTA SA is installed.
  3. Download a Vehicle Spawner CLEO script. You can find some of the most popular at zazmahall.de/ZAZGTASANATORIUM/zazmoddat00100/VehicleSpawnerPremium.htm. After downloading it, double click on the file to view its contents.
  4. Open the folder named "cleo" added to your GTA installation directory. You can find this in the main installation folder of your GTA SA game.
  5. Copy the Vehicle Spawner files. Drag the CS file from the spawner download to this folder, then drag the TXT file found in the "cleo_text" folder. This will install the Vehicle Spawner mod.
  6. Start San Andreas and press.7. This will open the Vehicle Spawner's menu, where you can select the car you want to generate.
    • You will need to select the car you replaced with the automod to load your new mod. For example, if you have replaced the Cheetah with an Audi, you will have to select the Cheetah in the menu.
