Rolex watches are high quality wristwatches manufactured by the Swiss company Rolex. Rolex watches are a status symbol that makes this watch brand one of the largest luxury watch brands in the world. Many modern Rolex watches are self-winding, which winds the mainspring of the watch movement. The longer such a watch is in motion, the more energy it receives. However, this watch may stop if it is left stationary for too long. If this happens to your Rolex watch, follow these steps to wind it up and set the date and time.

Part 1 of 2: Watch Factory

1. 1 Place your watch on a soft, flat surface. Rolex watches are expensive to repair and replace, so to avoid damaging your watch during winding, place it on a stable surface where it cannot slip out of your hands.
2. 2 Unscrew the crown. The crown is located on the side of the watch near the number “3”. Unscrew the crown counterclockwise until you feel it spinning freely.
3. 3 Wind up your Rolex watch. Using your thumb and forefinger, slowly rotate the crown clockwise 360 ​​degrees (or one full turn) at least 30 to 40 times.
   • If you turn the crown only a few times, the watch will not start completely.
   • You cannot twist the spring of modern automatic watches - they are designed to prevent this.
4. 4 Screw in the crown. Return the crown to its original position by gently pushing it towards the dial and screwing it in. Your Rolex watch is now wound.
5. 5 If you wind up the watch, but it doesn't work, put it on the table or put it on your hand and walk around.
6. 6 Walk with a watch on your wrist. If a Rolex watch remains stationary for 48 hours, it must be wound manually.
7. 7 If the watch does not work after winding it up, take it to a good watchmaker or a certified Rolex dealer (in the event of a serious breakdown, the seller will send the watch to a factory in Switzerland for repair).

Part 2 of 2: Setting the Date and Time

1. 1 After winding the watch, you need to set the time and date. Different Rolex models set the time and date differently, so it is important to use the method designed for your watch model.
2. 2 Setting the date and time (models without Quickset). Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • To set the date, turn the crown (in the second position) clockwise or counterclockwise to cross the number “12” twice, and continue turning in the same direction until you reach the correct date.
   • To set the time, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the appropriate time is set.
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
3. 3 Setting the date and time (models with Quickset). Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • To set the date, turn the crown (in the second position) clockwise (on a ladies' watch) or counterclockwise (on a men's watch) until you reach the correct date.
   • To set the time, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the appropriate time is set.
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
4. 4 Setting the date, day of the week and time (models without Quickset). Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • To set the date, turn crown (in the second position) clockwise or counterclockwise to cross the number “12” twice and continue turning in the same direction until the correct date is reached.
   • To set the time, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the appropriate time is set.
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
5. 5 Setting the date, day of the week and time (models with Single Quickset). Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • To set the date, turn the crown (in the second position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the correct date is reached.
   • To set the day of the week, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise to cross the number “12” twice, and continue turning in the same direction until you reach the correct day of the week.
   • To set the time, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the appropriate time is set.
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
6. 6 Setting the date, day of the week and time (models with Double Quickset). Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date and day of the week. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • Turn crown (in second position) clockwise to set date.
   • Turn the crown (in the second position) counterclockwise to set the day of the week.
   • To set the time, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the appropriate time is set.
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
7. 7 Time setting for Oyster Perpetual, Submariner (no date), Cosmograph Daytona or Explorer (no date). Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. The Oyster Perpetual, Cosmograph Daytona and some Submariner and Explorer models do not have a date. Pull the crown out as far as it will go to set the time.
   • To set the time, turn crown clockwise or counterclockwise until you have set the appropriate time (in this case, the second hand will stop and start moving only after you return the crown to its original position).
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
8. 8 Time and date setting for Submariner Quickset (with date), GMT-Master Quickset and Yacht-Master. Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • To set the date, turn the crown (in the second position) clockwise until you reach the correct date.
   • To set the time, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the appropriate time is set (in this case, the second hand will stop and start moving only after you return the crown to its original position).
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).
9. 9 Time setting in "GMT-Master II Quickset" and "Explorer II" models. Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out to the second position (until the first click) by gently pulling on it. Set the date. Now pull the crown out to the third position (until the second click) and set the time.
   • To set the date, turn crown (in the second position) clockwise or counterclockwise to cross the number “12” twice and continue turning in the same direction until the correct date is reached.
   • To set the hour hand, turn the crown (in the second position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the hour hand points to the correct hour (second hand will move).
   • To set the minute hand, turn the crown (in the third position) clockwise or counterclockwise until the minute hand shows the correct minutes (in this case, the second hand will stop and start moving only after you return the crown to its original position).
   • After setting the time and date, turn the crown back in (clockwise).

Tips

• If you don't wear your watch for a long time, buy an automatic watch winder. Such a box is a device into which a watch is inserted and which imitates the movement of a human hand.

Warnings

• Don't shake the watch trying to make it go.
